I’ve been on Xanax for just over a month. It’s been working but I’m worrying I’ve become dependent on it. Right now my palms are sweaty because I want one but I’m trying to cut back a bit. I don’t think I have an addiction issue since I’m not running out. I still only take my 2 a day. Sometimes just one. Then I might take 3 another day. But it still all balances out. and I don’t plan on asking my doctor for more, but I’m worrying. I’m trying to work on it before it’s a huge deal. I don’t know who to talk to about this. I don’t trust my therapist. My doctor is not in the same practice as she is. But she knows where I go to see him. She could see this as an addiction and call up the practice.
Who and how do I trust someone so I can talk about this? Is there any coping skills I can use so I can handle this myself? I just worry about my doctor taking me off it and I have a feeling I’ll have bad withdrawals. __________________ Ridin' with Biden |

What's your prescription actually written for? Twice a day at scheduled times? Three times a day? Once a day? Up to two times a day as needed? That's a good place to start. Then you may want to start tracking how, when, and why you take them along with how far between doses if you're taking it more than once a day. Jotting down any physical symptoms you notice between doses might be helpful too. That'll give you data to graph (if you're so motivated) to figure out a pattern of use and whether you're using them too much, in general or based on as prescribed.
Is the sweating due to anxiety? If not, it can be a symptom of benzo withdrawal and since it has such a short half life and you said sometimes you only take it once a day, I could see between your last dose from one day into the next being a long enough time to cause physical withdrawal, especially after taking it consistently 2-3 times a day for 4 weeks. But it's very difficult for us to tell and something better left to a medical professional. And benzo withdrawal is not something to play around with. |

It’s scheduled twice daily. I take it at 6AM and 2PM on the days I work and 8:30 and 3PM on the days I don’t work. I’ve just been fooling around lately to see if there’s a time that works better since the anxiety at work has still been bad. Yes the sweating is from anxiety. I got it filled early so I had some extra ones. Also at one point I was only taking half of one so I had a couple extra then too. So sometimes I do take 3 in a day. But again it all balances out and I haven’t run out or anything.

you might want to ask about a longer acting sedative, ativan or valium or something.

I’ve been on Ativan and the same thing has happened. Plus my weight was going up because it made me hungry.
I’m not sure at this point if there’s anything my doctor can do. I think it’s a me problem. I think I just have to deal with it and find coping skills. __________________ Ridin' with Biden |

But does anyone know if Ativan and Xanax interfere with each other? Does anyone take both of them? I have 66 Ativan. It’s probably not a good idea if I don’t want to end up having issues in the long run, but at this point I’m willing to try anything to get some sort of relief.

It seems like I was able to cut down to one a day on my own. It seems to work better then two a day anyways. My anxiety is way less with just one a day for some reason.
