Has anybody who has taken Vyvanse please tell me how the found it. Good? Bad? Did you have any side effects?

My P'doc has suggested that I take it for Binge Eating Disorder. I am only the second of his patients to go down this track. I simply cannot control these urges and my body is suffering and so am I. This medication is not subsidized for bed and is very expensive.

I am also on Seroquel and Klonolpin and even though I have tried long and hard to get off these two meds I have not been able to.

I feel at the end of my rope with myself and these meds. Take another one to counteract the side effects of the others. Help please.

I've heard of people taking that for eating disorders, it lowers appetite I guess because it's a stimulant right?

I'm on Trileptal 1200mg, I was originally on 900mg for bipolar but my doctor increased it to 1200 because she said it can also help with my bulimia

I used to take 60mg Vyvanse and all was good but then I developed an anxiety disorder and couldn't even stand 20mg without getting a fast heart rate..

It does decrease appetite badly for me so it should help with your binge eating..

just be careful with the dosage. of course, it seems you have a good doctor, so that shouldn't be an issue. could help low mood. i thought, when i was on stimulants, that they helped anxiety...truth is/was that the dosage was boosting my confidence...

anyway, i don't see the harm. amphetamines can cause euphoria, psychosis, etc., but most people can take a low(ish) dose and not have major problems. they were once standard for depression and weight loss, anyway.

I'm on vyvanse but for ADHD. I first started with the chew-able pills at 30mg. It tasted horrible and left me with a stomach ache and possible diarrhea a couple days later. I told my doc about it, so he switched me to the capsules at 20mg and I mix it it water to take it. I've only been on it one day and I didnt have any side effects that one day. I can however keep you posted as time goes on tho...

I appreciate the responses. I would like updates if you would like to ken9018.
My Pdoc is pretty wise about most things. Given my past bad reactions to a number of meds he now gives me the name first so I can google the side effects and see what the ingredients are.

I tried dexamphetamine many years ago when I was seeing another p'doc but can't remember what the side effects were. Given that I already have times of anxiety I am hoping that isn't brought to the forefront.

Kinda wondering what form they come in tablet or capsule? If it blows my socks off the first day then maybe I could take a half dose the second if it came in tablet. Would you be able to break the chewable ones in half?
Supposed to be starting next Tuesday when my p'doc is back on deck. And so we wait.

i have an acquaintance on seroquel and adderall, and she finds the combination quite effective for her range of problems (probably severe, recurrent depression).

back in the day, amphetamines were packaged in 1 pill with low(er) doses of the antipsychotic/tranquilizer drugs available back then...Thorazine+Dexedrine, for instance. Those pills have been off the market for ages, but some people really, really benefited...and the combination acts a whole lot faster than today's antidepressants.

i hope the amphetamine helps. :-)

I take Vyvanse for depression (off label). It did lower appetite which is good because the stupid anti-psychotic makes me hungry as heck. The side effect I had from Vyvanse is insomnia and it hasn't gone away. There is a savings card in the US at least that makes Vyvanse $30 which is affordable, but I don't know what your health coverage is. That's how much the Vyvanse is for me with the savings card anyway.

I am not aware of dexedrine where I live. Dexamphetamine is a prescribed legal drug whereas amphetamine is illegal. Get confusing I suppose. When I google the name of meds they will be there but differ in names in different countries. Like Klonolpin is known name in the US where I love the same med is known as Paxam or Clonazepam. Dexedrine is not listed in australia. Spasule? Do you mean long term realease - XR? As in it may take a day to be fully dispersed into your system?.

dexedrine is the old school US trademark for d-amphetamine . the spansule is an old school, longer acting version. in the us (which, for whatever reason, is now prescribing amphetamines like its the early 1960s...), I think there's a number of generic formulations, from tablets to capsules to all day (supposedly...) capsules...

but, again; that's the US. for whatever reason, amphetamines have only become more popular in the past 15 years or so, not less...this despite a "methamphetamine epidemic," etc.

but yeah...I was basically just wondering if d-amphetamine, hopefully some kind of long(er) acting version, was available for not too much money where you live. Vyvanse is a patented "pro-drug" for d-amphetamine, which is supposed to make it last longer and also somehow reduce abuse potential, I think.

OK. sorry about your situation. some people do take the d-amphetamine tablets, but if you're looking for day long treatment, that could mean a couple doses per day...kinda tricksy, those psych drugs.

good luck to you.

Yes it is very expensive. I am desperate for something to help. So sick of not being able to sleep in my own bed at night because of the binges.
Seroquel is not helpful in the eating department but without that I wouldn't sleep. I am hoping that Vyvanse - lisdexamphetamine will help.

Just noticed that the starting dose is 30mg in the morning. It can then be titrated up to 70mg per day which id $130 per month. Hope I can get by with the lowest.

I have been taking vyvanse for five days. Only just took the 5th dose. I am in a clinic so they can monitor me. Yesterday was a very hard day for other stuff in life. Found myself struggling with tics much more than normal. Could not stop ticking until they gave me an extra dose of Paxam/klonolpin. Today I have a headache and want to go home. It could be that my being in the clinic alone is enough to set me off. Last night I had a much needed big cry then started ticking again.
Question - for those of you taking vyvanse did the side affects ease off from when you first took it?
