I was on 400mg seroquel for 3 years and now I’m trying to go off of it. I’m going off slowly but I am having the worst anxiety. I feel like I’m waking up and I’m having anxiety about things in my life that didn’t bother me all these years. I’m also having generalized anxiety. It’s so bad I’m taking my klonopin 1mg 3 times a day but it doesn’t even seem like the anti anxiety meds are doing anything. I still feel anxious after taking it. And I know I’m on a high dose. Any advice or support can help.

Have you weened off of the seroquel or did you jump right off.

I’ve been weening off it slowly. Taking it down 100mg per week. Right now I’m on 100mg.

For me I jumped off at 50mg. I had no anxiety or panic attacks just loss of sleep. Although I was only sleeping four hours on the seroquel anyway.

I didn't know that Seroquel helps with anxiety. I used to be on 350mg but was having health problems, so dropped the dose dramatically. I was taking 75mg without problems, then 50mg. Even at 25mg I was sleeping well, but yes, my anxiety is horrible. Yesterday my pdoc told me to take 75mg. I don't want to because of the health problems I've been having. I prefer to remain at 25mg now, or less.
May I ask why you are dropping your Seroquel dose since it was helping with anxiety? Anyway, I have found that if I drop the dose below 25mg I cannot sleep well. There are strange images, silly and nonsensical, running through my mind as I try to sleep. They are stupid pictures, yet they are disturbing because I cannot fall asleep. I have heard that Seroquel, as with many psych meds, is difficult to lower or stop taking, even when done slowly. |
