my new prescriber person is giving me a low dose (300mgs day, 100mgsx3 as needed...) to see what happens, and..
I think I like it. The Abilify is steady for now @ 20, but we talked about lowering it...my plan was to see about the gabapentin @ a higher dose, get the Abilify down to 10-15mgs/day, and...yeah. my mood is improved. concentration isn't great, but i just started. i wish they made an xr, er, etc. something all day. who out there takes gabapentin? any advice, things to watch out for? i see the dosage range is crazy insane...my tiny dose all the way up to 3600mgs or something. do what works... thanks in advance. :-) |

I take 20mgs of Abilify too. I was on 1200mg of gabapentin a day. It did nothing for my mental illness but was great for nerve pain. I discontinued it about a year ago. I hear it works wonders for others just not for me. Nothing like a good old benzo.

I take Gabapentin for nerve pain and usually get sleepy from it. I find it relaxing. I'm prescribed to take as needed 1-3 of the 100 mg. up to 3 times a day.

I love Gabapentin. Gabapentin improves the quality of deep sleep. I dream on it, after many years of dreamless medicated sleep. I am so grateful for Gabapentin. It also ameliorates akathisia caused by antipsychotics.

I take it to sleep but I wake up every three hours and have to take more, so I'm not really impressed. Compared with Seroquel this med sucks for me, but at least it doesn't make me gain weight.

Yes the dosing range is insane. I usually take 900-1200 mg for sleep and feel good knowing that this is only 1/4 - 1/3 of the max dose.
