I've been taking a fairly high dose of clonazepam since 2007. But I was starting to have memory problems which it can contribute to, so I'm currently tapering off it. I'm in my 4th week of the taper and honestly it's not that bad. But I'm working very closely with my pdoc, and we're doing a very slow reduction while cross tapering onto valium, which I'll then taper off. I usually have a couple of rough days, but still manageable, with each reduction but we're only reducing every 2-3 weeks.

Now my main anti-anxiety med is seroquel. It's a bit of overkill, but it works really well for me. And I am concerned about the long term effects.

As some of you may know, my blog is currently off-line due to some problems at my previous site host. I'm working with my web master to rebuild and get back on-line.

Oh, ok. I just take .5 once a day.

For me lorazepam and alprazolam have helped the most.

Valium and propranolol works for me. One relieves the feeling, another helps with the physical symptoms.

I am taking Gabapentin for anxiety and it works well for me. 300-400 mg. 3 times a day.

Can I throw a wild card out there and say that cbd oil is actually very safe as it has none of the psycho active ingredients like the real McCoy. It does not depress the respiratory system as much as benzodiazepines. It works on the central nervous system. I do know it is said to work on the same pathway in the liver as neuroleptics drugs but if you take it at a different time then it's ok in my experience.

I find cbd oil better than benzo's for long term use. I have used the benzodiazepine valium for short spates and coming off was horrible for a couple of days and the next few weeks I was shaky but I was not tearing my hair out or anything. I would take a valium for a job interview/starting new job or before a party/wedding dance - for something really stressful. Not long term though. Lorazepam is similar to Valium and is good for just, now and again.
