Thanks |

I’ve used diazepam short-term but I’m on an SSRI, Citalopram, and it helps keep things under check mostly.

Took me 9 months to use them in the end. Of course it might be different if you have to rely more heavily on them but as I said in my previous post an SSRI really worked well for me. __________________ The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. oddly enough...
even though Valium (diazepam) has a bad reputation, its less addictive than xanax or klonopin, easier to taper than ativan... some people swear by ssri drugs. im not a fan, they make me too apathetic and make my mood swings worse. gabapentin isn't an amazing cure all, but its not addictive and it gets the job done. lyrica is a lot like gabapentin, but there is a a definite withdrawal syndrome after long term use. kinda lame, i know. having said that, its currently less restricted than the benzodiazepines. The benzodiazepines are in Schedule IV of the DEA system, Lyrica is in Schedule V, so I guess the available data shows fewer problems (?). some people take benzodiazepines for years upon years, no major problems. then you have horror stories, too, so...??? A lot of the horror stories seem to be from careless prescribing and/or excessively rapid tapers, so...there's that to consider... |

some people say that benzodiazepines and benzodiazepine tapers/withdrawal/discontiunation ruined their lives, basically. the horror stories ive read over often involve people given very high doses of xanax, back when it was somewhat common for people to be prescribed 8, 10mgs/xanax daily for some forms of depression, severe anxiety, etc. i cannot imagine tapering off that...

I've been taking a fairly high dose of clonazepam since 2007. But I was starting to have memory problems which it can contribute to, so I'm currently tapering off it. I'm in my 4th week of the taper and honestly it's not that bad. But I'm working very closely with my pdoc, and we're doing a very slow reduction while cross tapering onto valium, which I'll then taper off. I usually have a couple of rough days, but still manageable, with each reduction but we're only reducing every 2-3 weeks.
Now my main anti-anxiety med is seroquel. It's a bit of overkill, but it works really well for me. And I am concerned about the long term effects. splitimage |

Valium and propranolol works for me. One relieves the feeling, another helps with the physical symptoms.

Can I throw a wild card out there and say that cbd oil is actually very safe as it has none of the psycho active ingredients like the real McCoy. It does not depress the respiratory system as much as benzodiazepines. It works on the central nervous system. I do know it is said to work on the same pathway in the liver as neuroleptics drugs but if you take it at a different time then it's ok in my experience.
I find cbd oil better than benzo's for long term use. I have used the benzodiazepine valium for short spates and coming off was horrible for a couple of days and the next few weeks I was shaky but I was not tearing my hair out or anything. I would take a valium for a job interview/starting new job or before a party/wedding dance - for something really stressful. Not long term though. Lorazepam is similar to Valium and is good for just, now and again. Last edited by Anonymous32895; Mar 01, 2019 at 09:45 AM.. |
