I just saw my doctor today. He prescribes me 2 Xanax a day. But he never asks me if I’m doing ok with them or have any concerns or issues. He just prescribes them. It all seems very under the table. I just find it weird with all the hoopla surrounding benzos

we're not in Kansas anymore Toto. simply put i loathe doctors now. i dont know what else to say or think. but i'll say this ? i never received my official manual how life is supposed to work. or deal with doctors ? or deal with lawyers ? i took Seroquel 6-7 years and nobody ever informed me that there has been several class action lawsuits. i'm still trying to recover information that says how many people were suspected of getting diabetes from it or how many people have died as a result. BUT NOW I LIVE IN MISERY.if you feel my pain and anguish send me a hug. i feel like a walkin dead man. maybe Zombie is more appropriate. DOH !

Unless maybe the fact that I went in there today and told him my anxiety sucked but I just wanted to wait it out until the weather got warmer instead of doing anything about it now, proved to him that he didn’t need to bring up the Xanax? since it was obvious I am not having issues? Or something like that? I mean, I have over 70 extra Xanax since I don’t take it as often as he prescribes.

I can take up to 2 klonopin tablets a day prn (for a total of 1mg). I hardly ever use it and try to only take it for emergencies like severe panic attacks for example. She doesn't bring them up all the time, just asks if I need a refill one them and how my anxiety has been, what I've been doing to manage it, etc. I haven't needed a refill in almost a year because I use them so sparingly so I had a bottle of 60 tablets around for a long time that's just now getting down to where I'll need a refill soon. I've been seeing the same doctor for several years though so she knows me and that I've never had an issue with them and I have never had a substance abuse issue.

I guess maybe he doesn't bring it up because you haven't brought up any concerns about them? If you do have concerns be sure to mention them. I've had klonopin prn for years so my doctor knows I tolerate it well and am responsible so unless I bring up concerns at the appointment regarding it she doesn't specifically bring them up every appointment since I'm on other meds as well.

My pdoc doesn't seem concerned about my taking Xanax, but she knows I only take it PRN and am not in danger of being addicted. After all, I got myself off of Klonopin.

honestly...sounds like a fairly typical shrink. i don't know what their deal is, but as a group...they're often kind of slack, or at least...that's been my impression.
