I've been taking Celexa for anxiety but I'm not sure if it's helping. I'm very sensitive to meds so my pdoc started me on liquid so I could gradually increase it to a therapeutic dose of 20 mg. in pill form. I've been on that dose for about 5 weeks. I told him I want to stop it because I have felt shaky inside, nauseous, and don't feel less anxious. He wants me to wait and see how I am at my next appointment in 2 weeks.
I feel a tiny bit less shaky the last few days, but I'm not sure, so maybe it's still going to work? What has your experience with Celexa been, good or bad? Do side effects go away? Thanks! |

I'm on 40 mg - pill form, daily and find it helpful. I don't have much in the way of visible side effects from it, but it can mess up your heart and it interacts with a whack of medications so you kind of have to be careful on it. For me it's given me a heart Arrhythmia and prolonged Q2 interval so I have to wear a medic alert bracelet. And my pharmacist is constantly calling my gp to tell her that I can't take a med she wants to prescribe because of a negative interaction with Celexa.
I'd talk to your Dr. about alternatives. Just my experience. splitimage |

Celexa has been great for my anxiety. I was initially on 20mg for a year and a half but since going back on it I’ve been on 40mg. Been about two years now since I restarted it.
The nausea is very common when first starting many SSRIS including Citalopram (Celexa) but cleared for me within a couple of weeks after each dose increase. If you’ve been on it 5 weeks and still have nausea then to my mind it might be worth looking into something else but I’m not a medical professional. I think it did take a while for me to really get the benefits but I can’t remember exactly how long. I’ve not had any noticeable side effects since the initial ones cleared up that I’ve noticed. Im sure if there hasn’t been an improvement in the next two weeks other options may be considered. I hope you find the right med for you, they are really helpful when you find the right one. __________________ The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend.
