Going back to my old psychiatrist who was rude; threatening, and showed no empathy, relatively careless. he never prescribed me any meds. My meds have all been from previous treatment.

I would like to be on an antipsychotic (for my hallucinations and other forms of psychosis) ADHD meds, (can't focus) and anxiety medication, my anxiety is pretty severe these days.
Don't know why I'm posting, but maybe one of you can give me some tips. he frequently has interrupted me and told me I need to terminate the relationship with my T, for no good reason, which is BS. I don't need to prove anything to people.

Easy answer: "find a new psychiatrist" I'm sorry but that won't help me, there aren't many in my area and my family didn't find me one; whether that was because they were finding the easy way out to go back to my old psychiatrist, or didn't call any new ones, I don't know.

Anyway, the reason I'm going back is because my family and I couldn't find a new one. It wasn't even my choice. My family made the decision without me.

So -- how to state my needs and how to react without being interrupted? Can anyone give me some tips? Thank you in advance, it means a lot.

Boy, he sounds like an arrogant jerk. I suggest trying the broken record approach. When he interrupts. wait him out, then say what you said again--i.e, what you want and why.

I would suggest telling him you hadn't finished what you wanted to say and he needs to hear you out, but I'm not sure how he would react. If you want to try that, then you might try flattery--"You are a great psychiatrist and I respect what you say, but please hear me out...."

Sorry you can't get a new pdoc.

Let us know what happens, please.

Thanks, Travelinglady for the good advice. I found out just today after you posted that I may not even see him because I already have refills on my meds.
We'll see what happens come Monday.

What about writing down your concerns and handing them to him. He can't interrupt a paper.

Bride- if you are comfortable send me a pm with your state (if USA) or share it here. I am surprisingly resourceful about helping people.

Hi Sarah, thanks for your reply. I saw my old psychiatrist 1 week ago and I'm currently on the hunt for a new one. If I'm having more trouble than usual at finding one I'll PM you.
