I saw a new med ad on TD for the first time about a month ago and since then I've seen it maybe 6 or7 times.
It's for Tardive Diskenasia, and doesn't specifically mention what treatment they're advertising, instead it directs people to a web site about TD and says it will help you start your discusssion with your Dr., so I suppose it's for a new med.\ The woman in the ad who said she was experiencing TD, said it was from one of her meds for bipolar, but the ad ends with saying TD might also affect people with depression and schizophrenia. I knew anti-p prescribing was on the upswing, which I've been concerned about, even though I'm on them. But seeing an ad for TD treatment made me realize how much of a target audience there must be.. splitimage |

We don't have that type of advertising here, but still I notice these meds have increased. They are first choice for treating sleep issues for example and second choice after antihistamines for treating anxiety. It's basically all we have if we can't be treated with antidepressants.
These meds are seen as completely harmless because they are not habit forming. All harm that is talked about here is addiction. It is so sad. __________________ |

At least us mentally ill folks are being seen in a more positive light--in a sense. Hey, bipolar is becoming mainstream.

I saw that ad. I agree with jimi despite the serious side effects APs aren't taken seriously cause there's no addictive potential. So what if you gain weight, so what if you get metabolic syndrome, so what if you get TD.......we got more meds for that!
