Hello,

I've recently been suggested Aripiprazole for my OCD and BDD.

I've tried all the SSRIs, and Mirtazipine and Clomipramine.
None of them helped. They had a very slight effect on my OCD and did nothing for my BDD.
They actually made things worse for me as they gave me severe Depersonalization, hallucinations, nightmares, sexual side effects - all sorts of side-effects that ruled them as a no-go for me.

Now, all that's left for me to try is an anti-psychotic.
It seems a coin-toss as to whether a psychiatrist wants to prescribe me an anti-psychotic. Half of them say - it won't help, the other half say I 'absolutely need to be on anti-psychotics long term'
I don't trust Psychiatrists. They are pill pushers.

However, I am not coping and I have no alternatives. I've tried CBD and all the natural alternatives available... but they aren't enough, they help but I'm not coping even with their help.

Has anyone with Anxiety disorders found an anti-psychotic beneficial on it's own, not part of an adjunct combination with an SSRI.?
I'm on 6mg Diazepam, currently tapering to 5mg. So I will be on Diazepam and Aripiprazole. Major and Minor Tranqs. hmm.

Thanks,
C5

thought I'd bump this.
I have to make a decision this week and would like to know some peoples experience with anti-psychotic monotherapy. No additional anti-depressant, No therapy.
I also have personality disorders, in my sig.

I receive Maintena each month. It is Abilify. It calms me down tremendously. I can't say I would recommend it for everybody. But, as long as I take it, it helps me a lot. I sometimes have gone off it and became psychotic each time. But, since I am receiving a shot each month, I am not too worried about this anymore.
