I took Wellbutrin/bupropion for 2 years and 4 months for anxiety/derealization (feeling constantly in a haze as if an invisible wall partially disconnects me from the world "out there.") Since the Wellbutrin did not seem to help much, my psychiatrist had me taper off it within about 3 weeks. Since then, nearly a month later, the anxiety surges (ebbing and flowing) and dissociative haze have been worse. I have read that Wellbutrin withdrawal effects can last 2 or 3 months and include both anxiety and derealization. Can anyone share a similarly unpleasant experience?

Hi, rossovers, and welcome! I've not tapered off wellbutrin since it works well for me, but I have gotten off other antidepressants. It does take several months for withdrawal symptoms to go away. I had problems such as vomiting and brain zaps. You will prevail, though,!
Surely somehow here has done the Wellbutrin thing and will respond to you. |

Thanks for that. I have tapered off several AD meds without much trouble. When I stopped taking Effexor, I had a period of dizziness plus a moderate thumping in my ears when I moved around. Then one day both symptoms stopped. Going off Wellbutrin, however, has so far been a good deal worse in putting me in a derealized zombie state. But I should also mention that flying across the Pacific to Japan and back within 12 days has probably not helped! 8 time zones.
