I've been on risperidone for years, and love it. It's one of the best for boosting my mood, meds I take, and it also really helped me to stop dissociating.
The only downside with it is, is it can really mess up your hormones. I started lactating when I started it, and it really messed up my menstrual cycle. Good luck with it. splitimage |

I took it for a brief time and the was switched to Invega Sustenna which is like in the same family/closely related to risperidone. It helped quite a bit, was on it for 5 years. Had to get off though due to weight gain, horomone issues and some other stuff.

watch your prolactin levels, especially for the ladies. more EPS than other atypicals. drug induced dysphoria became an issue for me, might not be one for you. higher TD risk than, say, seorquel. and yet...
its widely prescribed, gets the job done for millions. when i was really 'going thru it,' id take 2-4mgs at night on top of my daily Abilify. woke up...stuffy nose, cotton mouth...and far less tormented and agitated, etc. now, im down to just the abilify, which...honestly...i find to be a less noxious tranq than the others, thus so far. |

I also experienced lactation and it messed up my cycles. Additionally, it caused anxiety. I was worried about the strangest things. My doctor tried to medicate that with an anti anxiety med, but then he remembered it might be the Risperdal. I weaned off and the anxiety went away completely.
