Had appointment with psychiatrist and was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder. I was prescribed Trintellix. Today is my forth day taking it. I realize it will take some time to notice anything. Was just wondering what others have experienced with this particular med? Don't need to hear about sides I'm experiencing those.

Hi @tkdan63 I'm on Trintellix and have been for a couple of years. I didn't have any major side effects and it is weight neutral. It took me several weeks to notice anything different and my doctor still had to augment with other medications. I am generally happy with Trintellix and it has worked about the best for me from all of the anti-depressants I've tried. I'm on the highest dose. Hope this helps. Kit

Hey SlumberKitty, thanks yes it helps to hear of positive results. I realize everyone reacts different to meds but I too had little luck with other antidepressants in the past. I'm trying to have as positive outlook on this coarse of treatment as I can considering my situation. Thanks again.

I've been on Trintellix since late April and I couldn't ask for anything better. Trintellix has eliminated my depressive symptoms. You should have no weight gain to weight loss depending on what you were on before. I haven't had one side effect, it makes me feel like a better me without the depression if that make sense. I love Trintellix it has been by far the best one I have ever tried.

I hope it works as well for you as it does for me

Today is day nineteen on 5mg. Had follow up with Dr at two weeks and things were going good so he kept the dose the same. However three days after seeing the Dr I started having some crying spells, not severe or long lasting but still there. Yesterday was over all a good day then in the evening had a pretty tough meltdown mostly caused by letting myself think of things I should not. Guess I'll give this dose a little more time and see how it goes.

The good thing is to keep following up with your doctor and keeping track of your symptoms, like crying, because the doctor may need to tweak the dosage or something. There's a lot of room to maneuver at 5mg.

I was prescribed Trintellix 2 weeks ago by my Psych. I haven't been able to start it as Ins. Co. has me in Holding pattern. I have and continue to take 90 mg of Cymbalta. Have been on 60 to 120 mg with and without Celexa to piggy back it. I am so ready to try something because Cymbalta and other stopped working. I am in such a bad place right now. I know I wouldn't do it but I think about Suicide all the time and can't pull myself out of this hole. I have decades of depression and addiction in my pocket and am on Zubsolv for addiction to Pain Meds. The good thing about that med and Suboxone is they both seemed to make me not want alcohol as that was another Monkey on my Back. Oh well enough about me. Just ready to try Trintellix.
