Hey, gang. When I was in the hospital last, there were some creative characters there with me. One guy in particular had a whole array of funny nicknames for many of his meds. My memory is now horrible, sadly, so the only one I can recall now is Abilifry, which, having been on high doses of Abilify before, I thought funny.
So, I was having a bad morning today and in trying to cheer myself up, wondered whether any other PCers had favorite nicknames for their meds? Please post them, PG-13 at most, please. Let's see if we can generate a list that will make us laugh (hopefully). __________________ When I was a kid, my parents moved a lot, but I always found them--Rodney Dangerfield |

I think I’ve heard Lexapro be called “the metabolism destroyer.” Seroquel I’ve heard been called “poison” I know inpatient they call the shots they give you “booty juice” at least they did at the children’s psych hospitals I was at 12 years ago.

I've heard of the "Thorazine Shuffle" (walking like you have slippers on without lifting up your feet to walk).

I've heard effexor called "side effexor" and abilify called disabilify. (Neither one coined by me)

Oh, this was perfect. I never laugh and I seriously laughed reading through this. And thank you. Christina, for the Serokill. I had forgotten that that was one of the names used during one of my hospital stays. I absolutely burst into laughter. First time in maybe a year. Thank you!

It’s real and not a joke. My psychotic break my ip pdoc put me on Thorazine and I shuffled my feet. It slows you down mentally and physically and I refuse to ever take it again.

Some people (I think mainly psychiatrists) call the combination of Remeron (mirtazapine) and Effexor (venlafaxine) "California Rocket Fuel". I can attest to that--it's a pretty potent combination--if you ask me. I take both medicines. It's not really a funny nickname, yet it's a fitting one.

Sometimes I call my Vortioxetine [that's Britellix for many folks here] the Vortex.
My Olanzapine is just O. But maybe I should call it The Zap?! |

I have epilepsy ,and certainly am not intellectually challenged but trust me ,my pet rock collection from the 1970's was smarter than me on dopomax ,it wasn't good for my seizures either so I left it in the dustbin of history, there is a universal truth among epileptic patients "nobody takes anti convulsant's because they want to" I remeber the dumb down me ,but more than that I remember all the barbiturate comas I woke up from because of status epilepticus , you act like you know what happened until you figure it out ! It's like a Gilette ad slogan crossed with a Nyquil ad "the best sleep a man can get barbiturate".or a Folgers commercial "The best part of waking up is tapering your IV drip ".

Oh Tegretol that's a sore subject, I also have GERD ,During the "purple pill wars" I was taken off one of the purple ones , a few days later I get out of bed and immediately fall down, everytime I stand up I hit the floor , called an ambulance ,at E.R they do bloodwork ,I am seriously toxic on tegretol Dr asks me why I ODed ! I thought he was crazy ,and he thought I was trying to off myself , it took my neurologist to get people straight , whichever PPI that was ,required me to take an extremely high dosage ,that one the PPI was gone ,I went toxic,so I am considered allergic to it ,which is very strange that I take Trilepral and they are very similar cousins .
