Greetings everyone,
I’m quite new here and I apologize for diving straight into the issue. It’s just it’s been tough and I cannot seem to find any help or solution. 2 years ago I was on 3 medications which were Cepralix “antidepressant”, Lexotanil “benzodiazepine “ and Zoloft “antidepressant”. I took them for about 2 months then I stopped everything gradually until I completely stopped taking any drug. Now after 2 years, I am suffering from inability to feel anything that goes through my stomach and I can never feel full after having any meal. This is causing me to lose control over my weight and I spoke to one psychiatrist about this. He stated that it might be related to the hypothalamus. I haven’t recovered from this still and I need any advice or help please. Thank you |

Find out what he means by that. Then you could ask the appropriate specialist.
If you are sure you are ok physically, I find that hot Chile sauce makes me full and that various cultures used it for that as well as for the flavoring aspect. My weight is creeping up and up, so I was grateful to stumble across this. Unfortunately the psychiatrist I saw was abroad. So I didn’t get the chance to be treated by him as I only went for an opinion only as I suffered from other symptoms such as being unable to sense changes in temperature and weather, and sleep imbalances. He then suggested that it might be due to the drugs I took and that they may have had an effect on the hypothalamus. His first suggestion was ECT. But when I expressed my fear he then said there might be other medication but never said what they were. I then travelled back home. It’s been quite tough for me cause it feels like my brain is disconnected from my stomach and I gained a lot of weight while I was on medication. Even after 2 years off I never am able to sense anything I am eating. |

hI @Memory412 I dont know the specifics of your situation nor am I trying to diagnose you. Many people I know who have binge eating disorder, overeating "disordered" eating are prescribed vyvanse. It is a med that was intended for adhd but got official approval for its use in eating related issues.

Not exactly sure what is happening with you, but it is possible you might ultimately benefit from seeing a GI doctor. Sometimes an ulcer or gastritis or reflux, or other things, can lead to symptoms like you are having.
