I have had Seroquel for about four months but have not taken it because I’m worried it might be addicting.
I’ve been on 200mg of Lamictal for almost 2.5 months (slowly worked my way up starting in Jan). Lately I’ve noticed an uptick in my anxiety. It has effected my sleep. Mostly in the mornings. I usually try to sleep until 10:30am but lately the anxiety wakes me up around 9ish and I can’t seem to fall back asleep. I will still try to sleep but rarely will I get the good rest I want. I’m thinking of taking the seroquel I’ve had sitting by my nightstand for four months. Can anyone give me their experiences with it. I know everyone has a different experience but it will be good to know. I’m also thinking the Q-tine is starting to effect me. I’ve been keeping busy doing things around the house but I’m at a point now where I don’t have much to do but water the garden and plants every other day. There is only so much Netflix and Amazon Prime you can watch lol __________________ “Sometimes I fall without making a sound” “ Look at me I'm a tangled puppet I might be a mess but I sure can survive Find myself awake counting sad days” “ No one will ever see This side reflected And if there's something wrong Who would have guessed it?” Bipolar 1 Generalized Anxiety Disorder ADD Adderall XR 20mg Lamictal 25mg |

I have been on Seroquel for sleep 25mg/hs and later increased dose to 400mg /psychosis. It has almost completely eliminated the voices but I still have to do the mental work to counteract it too. The side effects are dry mouth and sedation which fades by noon. It has been a easier drug for me than Geodon which had many side effects.

Seroquel gave me metabolic syndrome. I am now an insulin dependant diabetic. For mental health it worked will on my bipolar.

Thank you for telling me your experiences. I will probably take one tonight since I don’t have to wake up early tomorrow. I have 25mg and might cut it in half to ease into it.

I've been taking it for 8 years or so. Dose was up to 1000mg per day for a while.
I was forced to take it in a psych ward, and I wish I never had. If you rely on this drug to help you sleep for any length of time it's incredibly hard to sleep without it. I've tried a heap of times to go off it, tapering very gradually, but I never can. I just won't sleep, at all. Days will go past and I'll be tired and have a terrible headache from sleep deprivation, but I won't sleep. The other thing is: for me there is a period about 45-75mins after taking it where it causes strong anxiety while simultaneously making you tired. I've heard other people say the same thing, but I've not looked around to see how common it is. The other people I know who have the same effect had PTSD. I figure the drug sedates you, which also sedates your natural defences keeping you safe from your trauma, which exposes you and leads to anxiety. The problem with this is that every time you're going to sleep you are tired and anxious at the same time, and the process of going asleep gets associated with anxiety. Seroquel then becomes less effective and you have to put the dose up. Also, if you try to come off seroquel you just won't sleep. Every time you get tired and lie down to sleep you get anxious for no reason and wake right back up. Be careful with taking it, and consider if you REALLY need it. Other side effects I've experienced are weight gain (that I can never shed while on seroquel) and metabolic issues. There are others I suspect, but they have other possible causes as well, so I won't mention them in case I'm wrong. |

I still haven’t taken it. The dose is only 25mg but I’m thinking of cutting it in half. However, I see my pdoc June 3rd and I will ask him to up my dose of lamictal to 225mg then to 250mg. I’m sure that will help the anxiety I’ve been feeling.

Was on it a long time, various doses. 25 is super, super low, so no need for real worry at that level. That said, even though some people do benefit from Seroquel, it is by far, by miles and miles, the most dagnerous inciter of metabolic sydnrome and insulin dependent diabetes of any of the APs. By legions. My pdoc refuses to write for it and feels it should be withdrawn from the market. I agree.

If there is any med I wish I never would have touched, it is Seroquel. At a higher dose, Seroquel caused me to gain over 100lbs. Along with the weight gain came other health problems.
At a very low dose Seroquel helped me to sleep, but when I finally refused to take it anymore my sleep was all wacked up. When I stopped taking Seroquel, however, I lost 16lbs in 17 days. From what I've heard and read, Seroquel is helpful for many people. For me, it was poison. btw, I did battle with miserable anxiety for many years. Finally, after trying many meds, I found one that is helping to substantially decrease anxiety. It's called Trilafon. __________________ |

I take 700 mg of the extended release version (Seroquel XR). 50 mg in the morning and the remaining 650 mg at night. The only concerning side effects I have are high cholesterol and occasionally high triglycerides. If I eat a lot of sugar for a while, I can sometimes reach pre-diabetic, but if I'm more reasonable, I'm usually OK, in that respect. But we're all different in terms of vulnerability to this. For the most part, my Seroquel XR is weight neutral. Sometimes with dose increases, I do get a bit of extra hunger for a bit. I am a bit overweight, but likely no more than I might be even if I never took bipolar medications. I will say that it is a challenge to lose the weight. If I could, I'd hope my cholesterol and triglycerides would normalize.

I still haven’t taken it because the fear of weight gain. I exercise everyday but it seems my weigh is neutral. Plus I’m not losing my gut. I know I would only be taking 25mg but don’t wanna risk it.
My anxiety has gotten better in the last two weeks. So haven’t felt the need to take it. __________________ “Sometimes I fall without making a sound” “ Look at me I'm a tangled puppet I might be a mess but I sure can survive Find myself awake counting sad days” “ No one will ever see This side reflected And if there's something wrong Who would have guessed it?” Bipolar 1 Generalized Anxiety Disorder ADD Adderall XR 20mg Lamictal 25mg |
