Pdoc put me on a 40 mg. dose of Adderall daily. But when I went to the pharmacy to pick up the script, I was flabbergasted at the cost! $91.00! And that's with insurance! Good Rx can't help. Is Adderall this expensive per month everywhere??

Hey @Cdogger76 yes adderall is very expensive. I take it 4 times a day do you to the way I metabolize that medication. For a while I had to pay for part of it out-of-pocket and appeal it with my insurance company. It was $289 a month for 90 pills. I kept at it and got my insurance to cover it after exhausting appeals and getting in touch with HR at my husbands job. 8 months later I won and the pharmacy ended up refunding me 875$ after taking out copays on what I paid. How they cover it for 3 times a day but I pay out of pocket for 30 20mg xrs and it’s 63$. Do you have insurance? __________________ "I carried a watermelon?" President of the no F's given society. |

Hey, I agree I have been on Adderall 20mg for a couple years now. I recall going to CVS to fill my prescription (unaware that my new insurance was not accepted at CVS). Me being lazy and not wanting to go to another pharmacy I asked how much it would be for me to just fill it without my insurance. Lmfao the pharmacist looked me dead in the eyes and said 300 dollars
Lol I was completely naive from the privilege of always having great insurance and was extremely shocked by the price. I then went t the walgreens down the street where I pay 10 dollars for my adderall. My dosage is 20mgs 2x a day. |

Yeah, I am currently trying to find a pharmacy that has it under $50-$60. I am sort of lucky as the pharmacy at my MH clinic has affordable prices (under $50 if you have no insurance) but the only issue with that is the supplier changes and I have noticed a difference in strength when suppliers change. It's not a deal breaker but I'd rather not have to adjust to slight difference in strengths as it throws my off some, meaning it messing with my stability a bit. But not enough where it's not helping. What I have found so far is GoodRX or possibly a patient assistance application with one Takeda or similar. I'm still researching though. Most of the pharmacies are around $100 if w/o insurance. With insurance you can probably get a really good price but you'll have to do some serious research, calling around and going in person and asking pharmacies..its amazing the price difference sometimes.

My theory for a number of years has been that the meds that cause weight gain are the cheapest but the meds that cause weight loss or are weight neutral are either incredibly expensive or not covered at all. When I was on Medicaid they wouldn’t even cover Wellbutrin. I am paying a ton for my Geodon 80 which doesn’t makes me hungry. Xanax XR which seems to be bringing down my appetite wasn’t covered by my United healthcare/Medicare insurance so with GoodRX I’m paying $30. I know I’m probably just paranoid, but that’s just based on my experience.
