Has anyone taken Trintellix for treatment resistant depression? I’ve failed three drugs in the SSRI class and two in the SNRI class. The only antidepressant I ever had success with was Effexor, but it eventually lost its efficacy. I recently took Cymbalta, which helped with my depression but made me so anxious and irritable that I couldn’t stay on it.
My psychiatrist mentioned Remeron and Trintellix, the latter of which I had never heard of. I’m interested in both medications because, from what I’ve read, they function differently than the SSRIs and SNRIs I haven’t had luck with. I’m leaning toward Trintellix because I’m not enthused about gaining weight with Remeron, but it’s so new that I don’t know anyone who’s taken it and I don’t see it mentioned much in forums. It seems to affect several different chemicals in the brain so I’m not sure if it’s classified as an SSRI, an SNRI, a mood stabilizer, or all three. It also appears to affect serotonin a bit differently than the regular SSRIs. Anyway, I’d like to hear about people’s experience taking the drug. |

I take Trintellix and Cymbalta (and some other psych drugs). I didn't have any weight gain with Trintellix nor any really significant side effects. I've been on it for a while now and like you I didn't find that most AD worked well for me. The Trintellix Cymbalta duo seem to do the trick for me for my depression. Hopefully you will have success with it as well.
