This is not an online support group- this is a (very old) thread that someone started about their RL support group- if you do have a problem, you can start your own thread about it. Based on the problem you can pick a forum: this one is therapy based, depression has its own.
Could well be that they are some support groups on this site- IDK but this is not it. Sorry.

I totally understand you. I no longer have a Dr. or therapist. I don't think they understand how we feel at all. Unless one has suffered with depression no one understands. Hope your cats give you comfort. I have 2 little dogs and one big dog. My husband is not helpful and doesn't understand how I feel. It's comforting to know that others understand how we feel.

Hi, I get it but don't know how to help anyone, least of all myself. I have major depression, this is my fourth battle with it. I started slipping almost a year ago and have struggled for so long. Do you think I will ever get better? I have people who would be hurt if I didn't make it (and a dog, what would happen to him?) so I try to get through the days. It is so hard. This is by far the longest bout for me, keep waiting to see some light.

I too question my sanity about life, and wanting to be here. Thank God for my cat because I have to be around for him. To me animals are angels of unconditional love, but they never can be a substitute for humans. I am grateful for all of you new friends I have here. Thank you for accepting me and letting me be a part of your lives. It means a lot to me.

I am very new to this site and am utilizing it mostly to track my mood. It seems like there has not been a lot of activity from others in quite a while. Perhaps I am looking in the wrong place, however I will continue to explore.

Alcohol is a depressant and will just make your sister feel more depressed. AA does help alcoholics if they are open to attending and trying to overcome their addiction. Therapy can also help but a therapist who has recovered from addiction is the best. Exercise and medication definitely can also help. Hope she can fine some help.
