Hi please dont make excuses for your husbands behavior, abuse is abuse whether it be physical or mental, I suffered in an abusive marriage/relationship for 28 years never got the courage to leave although I wanted to for many many years, he used to blame it on me say it was my fault, that I wasnt well (I have bipolar and borderline personality disorder)and that that was causing the problems, I see a psychotherapist I am in the UK so my doc prescribed 10 sessions that were free for me she really made me open my eyes see what was happening around me and that my disorders were not an excuse for abuse, I then see my husband for what he was, A controlling bully. One day out of nowhere I just told him enough was enough that I wasnt doing it anymore, any of it. That was 3 years ago I still am suffering from my disorders and am about to start a new course of psychotherapy but without a life of abuse. My new partner is understanding, patient, and willing to help me rather than abuse me.

What's your diet like? Sounds like you're being poisoned by processed foods.

Lying monsters are a real nuisance: They are much more cunning than others. They pose as humans even though they have no understanding of the human heart; they eat even though they've never experienced hunger; they study even though they have no interest in academics; they seek friendship even though they do not know how to love. If I were to encounter such monsters, I would likely be eaten by them... because in truth, I am that monster.

Here's the link to the Oklahoma State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.
(Sorry this site won't actually let me post links until I have a bigger score. This seems totally stupid but I can't do anything about it.)

They have a search page where you can search a particular name to see if that person is a registered psychologist of Oklahoma:
(can't give you this link either)

Other than them you can contact the American Psychological Association: (guess what??? I think you've figured it out by now...)

But it's probably best to start with your state's organizations first.

Good luck!

I found mine on psychology today looking for psychodynamic.. Best therapist ever, he is credentialed with abpp which is supposed to be some high credential . What a difference a good therapist makes.. my T however would just say its about the fit ,and downplay his credentials , pretty humble about it even though he is brilliant.

Try looking up abpp they have a locater for psychologists.. might find a good one.

Is it possible to add a 'psychiatry' forum. We have one for PSychotherapy which I have occasionally posted about my doctors appointments but we really need to be able to post threads unique to our experiences with the psychiatrist.

Hi guys, I'm going through a bad time, I would say for the last year. My job is insecure, relationship broke 6 months ago and financial problems. I think I'm depressed, but I don't know how to figure out if I am or not, my brain seems clouded all the time. My studies are going wrong because I'm unable to retain anything. Did anyone here experience sumthing like that here....I need some advice on what to try

Venom1605, both my psychiatrist and psychologists have told me that some of my medications are causing me to forget the correct word I want to use (I might say the word marker when what I really want to say and mean is pen). Also, my memory is not the greatest, either. I tend to blame the more flagrant memory loss on a <trigger> *suicide attempt* <trigger> in 2008. I kept myself stable up to this point, except for outside stressors that cause me to have PTSD flashbacks. I don't know if you are on any meds now, but if you are, you can ask your psychiatrist if they can cause some of these problems.

My own problem with my psychologists is that I have Medicare (and Medicaid). I guess someone out there might not think that's a problem, but where I reside in PA, it is. Due to my Medicare, I must see only a Psy.D., Ph.D., or a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). There evidently is a shortage of these professionals in my area. Right now, only because I have Medicare, the only way I can even get a qualified psychologist is to have a Ph.D. professional overseeing a student Ph.D. in training. All of the other doctoral level people are overbooked and are not seeing any new clients at this time or in the near future. And the situation continues to worsen here. I probably could look into another practice elsewhere, but I was already informed that it would be the same scenario wherever I would go, at least in my area. I am still hoping and looking for a permanent therapist (psychologist).

For me, Klonoplin caused memory loss and confusion. Once I was switched to Xanax my thoughts became clear. Everyone is different so talk to your NP or psychiatrist about your symptoms. They are the experts.

I don't dwell on diagnoses. I focus on my whole wellness, mentally, physically and spiritually. Diagnoses are for payments.

That's the worst. Probably says that for the minimum payment he receives off your insurance, just to keep you.
I wish you the best!

The town I live in has highest degree of LPC, Insurance/payment is not an issue, but I have to travel out of town to see a psychologist or psychiatrist...and I am disabled and can’t drive myself, so I feel bad asking the people that drive me to my gazillion medical appts to also drive me to MH appts, too. I was just going to see a LPC, but I don’t know if there is even any point. So frustrating, I wish I lived in a place with decent public transportation.
