This is not an article - just a horrifying thread on reddit where some of those people admit they get their "interventions" (what a load a crap) from youtube

They lie and they act (a therapist who identified themselves as aspd):
"If you had ASPD wouldn't you not be able to see something as wrong or reprehensible?
Sure, my "default" state is unable to see something as wrong or reprehensible. But years of therapy and coaching and training have taught me how to. Instead of being an innate compass, it's more of a skill to me, the same way a person learns to read or write. It's not necessarily something I feel, but it's something that I recognize *should* be "messed up" to others, and therefore I am able to ID that. Does that make sense?.......It might be helpful if you could describe your perception of ASPD, and I can help alleviate the concerns I’m not a sadist (poor Christian Bale hasn’t done much to paint us in a good light haha) and I’m not out to do harm. ASPD simply means that things don’t “get to” me. Patient hates me? Shrug, idgaf. Patients gang up and whine that the group I’m running is challenging? Good, you need to be challenged. Patient is struggling with a tough emotion? Okay, I’ve been trained on how to help them through this. I don’t need to feel the emotion to be able to identify and help them through it, the same way a doctor doesn’t need to have diabetes to treat it.
Or on the flip side, do y’all need to personally feel the schizophrenia, the OCD, or the depression to be able to effectively treat it? Nope. Think of someone with ASPD as an extreme - I don’t feel much of anything when I encounter another person, but that doesn’t mean I’m not effective at treating it. I don’t feel pity or sadness when someone tells me about their abuse or trauma, but I will try my damn hardest to make them feel better and help them process.
I also work largely from a psychoanalytic orientation and it works well for me. I can easily take on that tabula rasa front."

Not one article, but a website (and a lot more online if you want to explore) by someone who identifies as a narcissist socio/psychopath and handles his online business very similarly to many unethical therapists IMO. Minus the professional/ethical restraints - quite smart in my view.

Might also be useful for those that endured the so-called "narcissistic abuse", even though I personally think narcissism has become way too much a superficial buzzword these days, it is thrown on nearly everything unwanted.

The site takes a bit of time to get used to in terms of navigation and the articles can be quite disturbing to some people, so please read with that prior awareness. I personally find it entertaining as well and the writer is definitely very articulate. I command him/her (he identifies as a male) for this type of business instead of becoming a T or many other shady positions, although I am sure he is evil enough as is

More about psychiatry than psychotherapy but some comments are applicable to attitudes in therapy and therapists, too.

The recent White House mental health summit has not received any real media coverage. There are proposals to expand the reach of involuntary commitments, so people in the U.S. might want to be aware of this as it may impact your treatment with your therapist or psychiatrist.

c-span.org/video/?467561-1/white-house-mental-health-summit-part-1

Drew Pinsky and D.J. Jaffe were key speakers. In the C-Span video at 42:30, Jaffe talks about how the police should discuss such issues without mental health advocates in the room and that we should stand up to mental health advocates.

There may be some good points within the arguments, however many others think that structures in our society and prevention are areas that really need addressed rather than need to increasingly medicate and pathologize people.

I would like others to be aware of this movement. Also, Dr. Drew gives me the creeps. He is not someone I would like to see crafting mental health policies.

Jaffe has been hated for years by many mental health "survivors". He has been an advocate for involuntary treatment, along with his pal E. Fuller Torrey. I would not trust them.

Yes, Jaffe. In the video, he was saying that mental health and civil rights advocates are the problem and that they should be left out of policy decisions.

Recent trends seem to amount to a form of social darwinism. People cut off from pain medications, medicaid forcing disabled people to work, and now involuntary mental treatment. The opioid guidelines were supposed to address an addiction crisis, yet stable and non-addicted people with major pain issues were all cut off, too, sometimes resulting in suicide. It was barbaric.

I have concerns that these trends in mental health will also be misapplied, causing a great deal of suffering. People might want to be aware of how they interact with their mental health providers as this could change things for some.

It's alarming that the media is not covering this. I wonder if there is more to this than the preoccupation with the current Twitter drama.
