Actually most state laws concerning handicap parking have a reference to the inability to walk certain distances with having to stop to rest. Most states have 200 ft as that marker although for some it is shorter. My state is 200 ft. You often have to read the fine print on the actual application to really know that. General rules pamphlets don't always outline the minutiae of the laws. Doctors can also generally make exceptions for specific medical situations and rare conditions quite often because it is rather impossible to have an all-encompassing list that takes in all handicapping possibilities. My daughter-in-law's friend, for instance, has a very rare medical disorder (only a few thousand cases diagnosed worldwide per year) that renders her often extremely weak; she receives chemotherapy injections every month as treatment which also make her quite ill with side effects. She qualifies for a handicapped permit due to the inability to walk distances without resting.

Hi Labrat, I've been following your posts, cause I see us in similar positions, but not responding cause not sure what to say that would be helpful as I have responses that come from my issues.

I've thought that your Ts refusal to say trauma but seeming to accept the physiological changes etc was a bit weasel like. But I put it down to his wanting you to accept it yourself internally. I thought that was Bs as I have needed first external validation before I could start generating internal validation.

The point of that is that I think you have suffered trauma and have developed cptsd (Am not a doctor but I see you in me).

So I can't understand his refusal to validate but that said my t has never said it either. Said she's not a doc. Just treats symptoms. So meh.

Also I want to shake you and say YOU ARE NOT WEAK. Even if your trauma was 'lesser' in traditional terms (I don't agree it as lesser) and you were a more sensitively wired child (perhaps, who knows), it has affected you has it has.

Some kids have a sensitivity to allergies- does that make them weak? No!

I'll stop cause you'll have gathered I see you in me a few months ago and even now some days so I can't be that helpful to you.

What helped me the most was looking at the kids I coach. A huge variety. Some more sensitive than others. Some sensitive but hide it in aggro. Even for the robust ones I would not want Any of them to have what I had. I look at them and feel sorry for the child (not me yet!) That had to go through all that. I can see as an adult that it was not a good thing. I can see as an objective adult yours was ****. Sending loads of strength.

Ah, the cruel irony of being so tired you can't sleep. Oh well. Thus is life. It doesn't help that both dogs decided they needed to be in bed because it was a bit stormy outside. Chickens!

I survived the first week with a new set of students. Seem to be a good bunch of kids, but the first few weeks are so heavily teaching-intensive; it wears me out. Once I get some basics under their belts and get them into the routine of what is expected, they run the show more that I do since they generally work in collaborative panels.

Hubby is getting around a bit better so I feel better about him heading back to work next week. Considering his surgery was only one month ago, he's doing relatively well. We ordered a better walker since he'll need to use one at least until after the other knee gets replaced which will be quite a few months away. He's preferring a walker to his crutches for stability and more natural gait.

I'm guessing I'll be napping later to make up this short night. That doesn't sound like a bad plan. I do need to do the grocery shopping, and I need to get some tire replaced before my long road trip next weekend. Heading down to my Dad's house to empty it out since he's gone into assisted living. 1,000 mile round trip in 3 days. Ugh.

This is a bit TMI and I apologize but...

Have any women here had a bartholin's cyst before? I have one and only heard about it yesterday when I went to DR. It's so painful and the draining process sounds terrifying and its' giving me tons of anxiety. I hate the DR as it is...

I have no idea why the universe hates me but it seems now, so does my body.

I haven't. If no couchies have maybe you could find someone by posting in the women-focused support or health support forum.

We have a foot of snow -this is unusual for my area. The animals are beside themselves.

We are do for an inch or 2 tonight into tomorrow. I’m glad we won’t be getting more than that. I’m still curious what the new puppy will think of it. He’s only 6 months-so hasn’t had an experience with snow yet-plus he was brought here from Georgia. We are finding he is not enjoying walks in our very cold temps the past couple days. We bought him a coat.

I have one long coated version of my preferred breed and one short-coated. The long one is running in and out of the dog door like a lunatic and the short coated one goes out on the back porch - looks down the steps and runs back in. I am going to have to shut the door and go call him from the front to get him to go down and relieve himself.

We had a hound mix we rescued a long time ago (he was more my person's dog than mine - he was our start into being a two dog house) and we had to get him a coat and little boots - the cold and the stuff people put down would cause him to whimper and then we got the boots and coat. We couldn't walk him in the ice/snow (we get more ice usually) until we did that.

Hope everyone's doing okay! Would any of you be willing to give some input on something going on for me over PM? It's not directly related to therapy, but I don't have lots of people in real life that I could just ask this, since it's still rather sensitive and I really like most people on this forum and would appreciate some feeback....

CNS-I don’t know how helpful I’ll be, but feel free to PM me if you would like. I want to mention I am anti-therapy-so if that’s not an issue for you then feel free to send me a PM.

I’ll have to look into boots. I wonder if I can find some for his very big paws. He’s up to 60Lbs now and still growing.

My niece lives in Minnesota and has two adopted greyhounds. Greyhounds are not exactly built for -25 degree temperatures. They have pajamas, coats, hats, boots, etc. It is a whole ordeal to get them dressed to go outside during the winter, but they stand patiently and let her get them dressed.

I would think that greyhounds would need something even indoors in minnesota winters.

Thus, the pajamas. They are always dressed, even indoors, in the winter. And they're so stinking cute!

I love love love that!! And I think the fluffy border is awesome. That yarn is hard to work with I think, so extra kudos to you for that! (Used it as an edging on a pair of slippers for my sister, they were beautiful but dang, the yarn kept breaking!)

I have to go figure out if the main roads are drivable. My neighborhood streets are covered in snow - the plows have not come on the off roads yet.
It is snowing more right now. Our city is not set up for this sort of thing and news people are in quite the tizzy.

I need to leave the house if only to get away from the cats who are being little jerks because they don't like the snow and won't go outside in it.

OK, I think the image of a greyhound in PJs might be more than I can take in terms of cuteness!
