I had a male gyn for a while. I didn’t find it awkward or sexual at all. It just seemed like other doctor kind of touch.

Same here--also fine with him. Only changed when I got pregnant because he wasn't also an OB.

I have not had a male gyn, as I insist on females. I find male gyns creepy. However, I have had to settle for a male urologist, since female ones are so rare. He was a monster and really hurt me.

So you want a man up in your business who really wants to be there? I guess it's whatever floats your boat. In my experience, male doctors in general are cocky and unempathetic. Other males in the medical profession - nurses, physicians assistants, etc., don't have this problem, just the MDs. Male pediatricians are also fine. But the others have a superiority complex and, I swear, secretly still believe in "womb madness" or whatever.

I had a male GYN who had a crappy bedside manner but he was one out of several I tried. The rest were fine. I currently have a female GYN and she is great too.

It depends so much on the male doctor. My male Gyn was not like that at all.

I have had both female and male OB/GYN's. I found it was much more about their personality than their gender. I've had some excellent ones of both genders.

I guess I've just had really bad luck with male doctors. It's not like I had one bad experience and then swore off them all. I think it may have to do having lived near two prestigious medical schools at the time. So the ones I got were particularly impressed with themselves and valued me as an average patient (and not a potential subject of their research) less. Still, I only had one female doctor who was dismissive (though not arrogant). The others were just fine (although my PCP was obsessed by abuse and took every opportunity to bring it up in conversation). After the horrendous, painful, physically damaging experience with the male urologist, I discovered the field of urogynecology and found a female urogynecologist who was able to help.

Young white male american student doctors in my area (geographic, not uh you know!) are pretty awful, IME. By female gyn attitude, i meant "mean girl", also, IME. Plus i think they think im a lesbian or trans, so they get weird with me.

At least Caesar never built a temple and cult statue to himself and every morning have the priests dress the statue in the same outfit he was wearing that day. (My favorite Caligula story.)

Also Caesar had a much better assassination as those things go.

Hey, this is the third post mentioning Caligula on this Couch, that must be a record.

I didn't mean they were students, though I guess they were mostly relatively young - except for the urologist. I just meant they were affiliated with these prestigious medical schools/hospitals, and were up their own asses about it.

Ugh.

I have been wanting to find time to clean my pantry, but have barely been home...canceled my evening errands to clean because there was a mouse in the pantry last night. I was sure the pantry was unassailable. I think someone let the door open. BLEAH. Tiny sneaky little...critters is the first word that pops to mind that won't get *** out, and it took a few words to get to this one.

And right after a Couch discussion about mice, too. SheHulk, you're not alone in bleaching all the things.

In completely and wholly unrelated news (heh), Costco has sets of glass Mason jar canisters for about $20. At least my pantry will finally look as organized as it is.

P.S. This is apropos...My highest COPE score was Problem-focused coping- 75%

I got 91% in Active Coping: The process of taking active steps to try to remove or circumvent the stressor or to ameliorate its effects.

Time to go bleach more of the things and put food in jars.
