The paternal aunt has the girls. All I can do is hope my sister has learned her lesson and straightens up enough for her to get her girls back. That's the only way everyone "wins". Any other scenario, someone loses...especially the girls.

I am glad they are at least with family and not in the system. Hugs.

Morning couch! I'm up early to get some studying done before I go hiking. Last night I read chapter 7 obviously about "Our Planetary System" and this morning I'm on chapter 8 "Formation of the Solar System". I did the chapter 7 homework last night too. The farther we get into our textbook, the more in awe I am. That there exists SO much more in the whole universe than we can even dream of. It is certainly broadening my horizons beyond my little life. In a very good way.
hugs and headnods all around. back to the books! |

Back from hiking this morning in our local National Park. Made some new friends today, and will be going hiking with them again in the near future:

The desert has always struck me as hazardous with all those prickly plants. I had an unfortunate cactus incident when I was young.
But I have always wanted to go to Santa Fe for the opera festival. __________________ Please NO @ Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live. As long as you stay on the trails and watch where you're going.... it's not so bad... I think the desert is so peaceful and beautiful I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

Also, we heard a rattlesnake at one point but we never saw it. It was somewhere off the trail but close by.

Finished the pajama pants! I still make a far better quilter than seamstress but that isn’t really saying much

I never was very good at sewing. My sister on the other hand, can sew anything. She even makes specifically-tailored dress slacks for our other sister. I have made a few things when I was younger like a dress or two and mostly skirts but that was it. I have not the patience for it. Crochet is what I am good at.

My grandmother tried to teach me as a kid but she basically just traumatized me and convinced me I would never be able to sew. After talking to my aunt I thought about giving it another go... then found a sewing machine for $15 at a flea market that just said “works”... so I jumped in... a purse, two baby quilts and now pajama pants... I think I am hooked. __________________ There’s been many a crooked path that has landed me here Tired, broken and wearing rags Wild eyed with fear -Blackmoores Night |

It's so cool to see pictures of the desert. Everything here is greening up and everything is covered in pollen so my blue car looks green. It's nice to see the sun again.
I'm cleaning today ugh if it will just stay that way for a while. Happy Saturday couch. |

That's great that you're doing so well with it! It was my mom that convinced me I couldn't sew because my attempts were never good enough. It's funny, my grandma taught me to crochet many moons ago, and she was tough too, she taught me to rip out my mistakes and correct them even if I didn't notice the mistake right away, she'd have me rip out everything back past the mistake and do it over, but she was so loving in the way she did it as opposed to my mom, plus I watched her frog her OWN work enough times for the same reason, and I still rip out and fix mistakes to this day. I loved my grandma like crazy. Sometimes when I'm crocheting something difficult (like a baby dress I made for my niece that I struggled with) I feel like my grandma is somehow their guiding my fingers. Like I channel her talent or something. |

My grandmother sewed, knitted, crocheted, and did crewel work. My brother learned to crochet and enjoyed it but I never got into it. It was one of those things for me that I could never figure out what you would do with anything that was crocheted. Knitting looked practical but I sucked at it. I can sew a little, but for me, the activity isn't fun and so I only do it for projects where I need something very specific that I can't just go get with a lot less effort.
