Son is waiting for me to notice he is threatening to SH. REALLY? so not in the mood on Easter.
Then thought about T with family for Easter dinner... both mortified and laughing hysterically wondering how he and his wife mesh their individual OCD bits at a family gathering... __________________ There’s been many a crooked path that has landed me here Tired, broken and wearing rags Wild eyed with fear -Blackmoores Night |

I ended up starting rearranging the kitchen instead. It’s much more efficient though less than half done already.
Also got rid of my old glutinous flour very very carefully lest it go over everything or I inhale it. I’m considering trying a recipe for buttermilk chess pie instead of peach pie and then I can get corn starch later. I have never had chess pie, but I have all the ingredients. WFS—I got premade gf pie shells. There’s only so much experimentation I can cope with at once. Last edited by atisketatasket; Apr 21, 2019 at 03:41 PM.. |

Chess pie is delicious. My mother mostly made lemon and chocolate ones but sometimes just plain. A true chess pie (as opposed to some other soft filling) has cornmeal in it. Is cornmeal gluten free?

I said that about the cornmeal because my grandmother and mother would read recipes together and the ones without cornmeal were rejected as being yankee chess pie recipes. Which were to be scorned apparently. I don't know why. I do know that even now I will not call a pie a chess pie unless it has 2 tbl of cornmeal (white not yellow).
It is a happy memory of them making chess pies. __________________ Please NO @ Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live. Oscar Wilde Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional. |

Well, I am a Yankee, so I shall accept my lot as being relegated to cornmeal-free chess pies.
I do mean to make it, it’s just every time I go in the kitchen I have to clean from my earlier reorganization. |

A couple of web-sites I recently came upon:
Start Here | A Clean Bake I can't vouch for any of the recipes, but I like how the site is organized for a variety of eating preferences: GF, vegan, etc. And Healthline: Medical information and health advice you can trust. for its searchable d-base with active links to med research within articles for all sorts of issues. |
