My mother and my sister have a way of staying present in my life, long after their deaths.

I was in church last night with my husband. We sit in the back pew because of his walker. No one sits behind us. I realized I was hearing someone humming a hymn behind me. I turned to see who it was, and there was no one there; just a very vivid image of my mother smiling and humming. (She was an organist and this was her element.)

Then, this morning on my Facebook page, a post pops up from the Lutheran church in El Salvador that was named after my sister who (along with her husband) had done a great deal of work there. (They rarely actually add posts to their Facebook page.) When she died, we asked for memorials rather than flowers and those funds were sent to that little bitty church in El Salvador which was able to put on a new roof, expand a little, paint, etc. and renamed their church after my sister in honor of her lasting spirit.

Their spirit lives on and finds a way in at the most unexpected times.

Am baking parmesan crisps. The gf ones in stores are way too expensive.

Trying garlic on some of them.

Eta: verdict, good, but either I overinterpreted “heaping tablespoonful” or they needed to bake longer. Bit chewy in the center. Or maybe try grated instead of shredded parmesan next time.

I slept til almost 10, then got up to shower. I had great intentions of finding something quiet and easy to do like clean the junk drawer, but by the time I made it downstairs I only had enough oomph to pour coffee and find the Tylenol, then I went back to bed and fell asleep.

susannahsays, I’d just read your post about whether therapy is helping. Three times in my dream, I asked you: Did you ask C (something)?
Which is totally useless because my head is too full of fever and snot to remember what the something was. That’s what I get for reading posts before falling asleep.

So I decided to walk home from the grocery store (a little over a mile). About 1/4 of the way home I somehow managed to trip over a crack in the sidewalk and flailing my arms & run-falling, making a huge spectacle I'm sure on the sidewalk next to a busy road I then fell down and skinned up my knee and shin and sat there for a few seconds laughing at myself, then I jumped up, brushed off and walked the rest of the way home. Slowly, and gingerly. Good thing these old bones have padding Couch 194: The Floral Couch

Evening Couch,

Time with my nephew always makes me feel a little brighter. I'm so grateful for that. I'm learning to find light where I can.

Survived D's family birthday party--think it went OK? But when she was ready to leave, there was no changing her mind. Made it through about 2 hours.

Hey i forgot the couchies could help eat the ice cream cake. As much ice cream cake as you want the top layer is super rich chocolate and the bottom layer is hokey pokey. Dig in. I am over ice cream.

instead of just signing up for the art course i emailed the lady some of my works in progress and pointed out what inwas having problems with in the hope she might know someone who can help. I felt maybe this was more proactive than paying money for a course i would find boring and would begin to resent it. At least asking for what i want is becoming a bit easier since i began therapy. I no longer think its all about people wanting to hurt me in some way. I understand boundaries abit better.

I am trying to be proactive and not stew in my current miserableness. So, I made homemade carrot cake and homemade cream cheese frosting. I can’t wait to eat it tomorrow after Easter dinner.
