Has anyone tried this for CPTSD or related?

I am currently in therapy which is just talking but I went to a hypnotherapy session for a specific issue around test nerves. I found the session really grounding and positive and I was able to make intriguing connections without feeling threatened. I just enjoyed the mindfulness and meditation of it and left feeling positive and more connected.

I am wondering if people have done this in their general therapy to then talk to their inner child and help talk to parts. I think this would be really useful. I need to talk to my usual therapist about this as well but in some ways I feel like I cheated on them. In this one hypnotherapy session I felt more contained and safe then I have done with my usual T..

Talk to your T about it.
My T doesn’t really do hypnotherapy but he DOES use light trance and suggestion in some of his work. However, after finding out the degree of my trauma he abruptly stopped. I have not asked why, didn’t really think of it until I read your post.

i haven't done hypnotherapy, but i have done neurofeedback for my CPTSD and DID. there are many different NFB protocols one can do, and one of my favourite ones is called Alpha-Theta training. this protocol helps the client get into a deep meditative state or a 'pre-sleep' state. while in this state, i was able to focus on my various dissociated parts/alters and process many truama memories and emotions that many of them carried. NFB also helped me to form a more cohesive sense of myself and promoted self love and worth.

similar to you, i struggled to experience a sense of safety in talk therapy with my therapist and the NFB helped to calm my overall anxieties and fears.

are you planning to try the hypnotherapy again since it was a positive experince for you?

I haven't tried hypnobased therapy but I can't recommend african drumming enough as therapy. Joining a weekly or monthly drum circle to drum, is so healing, on so many levels. I am trying to go here every week where I live, b/c I find drumming and the percussive rhythms that result very, very meditative and relaxing. Do you have access to african drumming where you live? If you do, I highly recommend it as a form of therapy.
