AP is scored in Tampa in a convention center. It's the SAT I score at home, in my jammies, in my recliner. The convention center is not nearly as comfortable as my reading room, but I'm looking forward to the trip.

Hello couch peeps. It was a beautiful day out-though I have a horrible sore throat.
The kids I take care of were sick all week with ear infections and other symptoms. (when one twin gets it so does the other). I lost count the number of times I was sneezed on, coughed on, used as a tissue and whatever else. Oh and in the throws of potty training them. Lucky parents. I’m leaving them in a month with 2 potty trained tots. Can’t beat that for a farewell.

I would be hard pressed to think of anything other than fruit or coffee/iced tea that I would consume more than 12 times a month. Even leftovers are usually consumed within 2-4 meals.

I think there's only so much you can eat before you get sick of anything in excess even chocolate.

I’m not sure, but I believe you two are not acting as what economists call “rational people.”

Food storage options beyond the stomach include the chin, the batwing, the thigh, and the heinie.

Hi Couchies. I got my kitty Esther back from the vet. Only $90 so that's not terrible. But the tests didn't really tell us anything about her diabetes. I'm frustrated. Then they told me that she really needs to eat wet food only. I couldn't get them to understand she's almost 14, she's never liked wet food. Even when she was a kitten. They're like you could get her off the insulin if you get her on to wet food only. As much as I would love that, I don't want my cat to starve. Poor baby. I couldn't get her to eat tonight but I left her contentedly taking a bath on my bed. It was a long day for both of us. Hugs Kit

Kit,

That sounds really frustrating. Neither of my cats will eat wet food; one has never even tried it. She just won't go near it.

My first cat was diabetic, so I understand some of what you are going through. I would think it's just most important that Esther eats, period. Even if it's not wet food, unfortunately as pet owners we can't always get them to do the "ideal" thing. She may have to be on insulin for the rest of her life, but that's not the end of the world.

I know you didn't ask for advice, but personally I would stand my ground at the vet, acknowledge that yes, wet food would be best, but it's just not happening, period. "So now that we've put that aside, what's the best we can do for my cat?"

Have they mentioned an appetite stimulant if necessary? One of my cats was given mirtazapine (remeron) as a kitten when he wasn't very food motivated. (Not sure if that would be an option for a diabetic cat, however.)

Went out for Indian food again this time with son & his gf too. I tried something different, maarwan gobi or something I forgot the name. It was a dish with cauliflower and peas and was quite delicious! My son got chicken tikka masala and he just raved about it. I forgot what his gf got, a chicken thing and my mom got veggie tikka masala this time. It was fun. (H was out on a job so didn't come.)

The pressure has been on in various ways for the past couple of months. Now that the pressure has come off, of course I got sick.

If AY were here she’d tell you chicken tikka masala (and veggie too I guess) isn’t real Indian food but a British imitative invention.

Kind of like General Cho’s chicken, I guess.

Maybe this will help:Don’t Sugar Coat It: The Best Diets for Cats with Diabetes – Clinical Nutrition Service at Cummings School

The take-away seems to be that sometimes, dry food is ok and that carb counts in dry and wet foods vary widely. And that they still don't know for sure what a best ratio of carb to proteins and fats is best for diabetic cats.

What dry food do you currently feed her,SK?
