I remembered why I don't like CBT: it feels like "blame the victim to me. I am willing to give it another try, however. My T is out this week, and I won't start the CBT by myself until she is back in town, in case anyone makes a judgement call about my character.

I feel that way too with CBT. I took a 5 week course last year at the clinic i go to. It did not do much for me, it just seemed like it barley touched on my issues. I might try it again in the future when my issues are not past trauma and grief all the time. I found my depression took over and i got fustrated. The expectations of getting better in a short time really put allot of pressure on me, i process things at a slower pace. Hugs

I'm doing CBT now too, for anxiety. I can write out the positive statements but the problem is, I don't believe them! A few antidepressants haven't worked either, so I'm trying hard with the CBT. It's frustrating. Good luck, CL!

I did a 12-week partial IOP CBT program about 7 years ago. Some of the components were very helpful and others were almost harmful. Some of the treatment team members were awful. The best part that made it worthwhile was the other clients in the group. I just found out this week that the main treatment guy died. That’s too bad because he wasn’t awful.

I'm not fond of CBT since it doesn't reach me at all on the emotional level. CBT did a good job of causing me to second-guess myself and worsen my self doubt.
