T is in her early 70’s and teaches Psychology at a University four days a week and sees therapy clients two days a week. Not sure when she’s retiring. She said she’d probably just slow down by not accepting new clients when she is nearing retirement.
T’s pretty active (seems to me) and she’s been fairly healthy the last five years I’ve known her. She might see clients for several more years. |

Former T was around 70 when she got too sick with MS to continue. Idk how old current T is. In her 60's I think. I'm starting to get attached to her so that might be a problem.

I’d say in my experience many people work for many other reasons in addition to money. I’d not worry that she retires just because her husband makes enough. Many people actually like to work.

My therapist retired from doing individual therapy when she was in her early 70's, after her husband died from Alzheimer's Disease. She took off a year to travel around the country with her dog so as to try to heal and let the past go somewhat. However, she still maintains an affiliation with a spiritual/personal growth association where she is involved in helping people.

My T is 68 and plans to continue until he either physically is unable or if he were to start having memory problems.

Definitely think it varies, as shown above. Former T stopped in her late 40s to do other things. Too bad, she was awesome. Current T is in her mid 50s and will probably work as long as she is able. She kinda seems addicted to work and keeps taking on new things.

My T is getting 69 these days (like yesterday or day after tomorrow or something like that) and he has no plans to retire yet. I has told me that he still expects to work at least 5-6 more years. When we first met 6 years ago he told me that he plans to practice at least 10 years still. I suppose it depends on the health conditions. Right now he is healthy and sees no reason to retire yet.
