I guess that shirt is OK...I think it just felt awkward expressing
Possible trigger:
, In the right setting? It's great. And I like his black shirt with little zebras on it. And some of the subtle floral prints he wears. This just felt vacation-y.

One time when I was at the hospital for suicidal idealation the woman social worker who was giving me the psych eval was wearing these horrible bright colors like bright yellow and neon green and it just grated on my already thin nerves. I guess maybe she thought she was being cheerful but it was too much. I wanted to puke just seeing her. Of course I was in this horrid hospital gown so I already felt ridiculous and I just thought this would not end well.

What bothers me is that he wore two animal prints - the fish shirt and the cat socks. You just don't do that. What was he thinking?

I am not known for my sense of fashion. Don't wear plaids and stripes together or white shoes after labor day are about the only ones I know.
Sometimes we have to tell students they can't wear flip flops to court, but besides that, I don't really pay much attention to attire. I wouldn't have thought anything at all about that shirt if I had noticed it (which is not a given that I would have done) and I would not have noticed the socks at all under any circumstances. I couldn't say what I wore yesterday.

I don't really care about fashion much, but I would say that two different animal prints are akin to plaid and stripes together. Ok, maybe not quite as bad, but in the same category.

I'm with SD - I never notice what people are wearing (unless I am looking for a specific person since I work security). I don't notice clothes, jewelry or shoes.

90% of the time I wear t-shirts with my favorite baseball team on them.

Starting to wonder if I am capable of having a professional career.. especially one in the “helping field.” Anxiety has overtaken my life, and what kind of example would I be to others? Ugh..

I notice people's shoes a lot because I sold shoes for about 8 years. I can usually tell if someone is wearing the wrong size or if they need a wide and aren't wearing a wide. I notice if the shoes are ones I used to sell. I notice if they are scuffed or polished (not sneakers but shoes like loafers). I notice if people's feet hurt. Last time T was wearing nondescript black ballet flats, black pants, a black sweater/blouse with copper snaps down the sides of the sleeves and black flowers in her hair. She is fair skinned with blonde hair. She either dresses in all black or in some garish colors. I prefer all black, but then, I'm partial to black. My prof friend who I meet for Book Club constantly gets on me about wearing too much black. What's wrong with black? It looks nice in almost any occasion, and you can't tell if you have blood on your sleeve or if you spilled something on your shirt.

I hope eventually you can find something that helps your anxiety, maybe therapy, maybe medication, maybe a natural remedy or some combination of things. I believe people having issues provides them with more empathy and therefore makes them even better in the helping field.

It seems like everyone in the field has some issue of their own too...so why not you? At least you’re aware of it. (Some of the others don’t seem to be.)

Ooh and my Mom hates it when I wear black nail polish. So I do when I want to be rebellious.

My current T flat out told me her life is a mess. I didn't inquire as to what she meant by that but she was honest that her life isn't perfect in any means.

Ugh. I'm pretty sure I'm going to SH when I get home. I still have an hour and a half of work left, well I don't have work to fill an hour and a half but I have to be here for an hour and a half, so I'm hoping in that time I can get distracted and relaxed and not feel the need to SH. I did some online shopping and found Mom two sets of jammies for her birthday. So that was distracting and took up a bit of time. Trying to keep my mind and thoughts on the positive side. Trying to think what T would say but I've never really talked to her when I was in the midst of a cycle of SH. Only when it's done. So I'm having trouble drawing up her words. I know former T would tell me to take it easy and treat myself with kindness. But former T isn't here!

Still, you know what she would say.

Can you stay out until it's close to your bedtime? Browse some shops, go to the library, etc. Distract yourself somehow? Go to a movie?

I am going to drive to the town next to mine to see if I can find this sweater my sister wants but we don't have at the shop in my town but the shop in the next town over is larger so they might have it. I looked online but I couldn't find it. I'm going to ask my Mom to go with me. So I might get distracted doing some shopping. I'm hoping I don't end up SH-ing tonight, but I have to admit, part of me feels like it's inevitable. That's the part I have to fight against.

I wonder if Ts have a higher divorce rate than normal people...

I saw on the internet that a T was teaching her patients to draw (doodle) on their bodies instead of SH.
