I have an appointment with a hypnotherapist on Monday. I spoke with him for 20 mins on the phone first to see if this was right for me. He said I have an advantage as those with dissociation are to go into trances faster and receive a greater benefit.
I feel I have reached a ceiling with therapy and I need to get to a hight functioning level. __________________ When a child’s emotional needs are not met and a child is repeatedly hurt and abused, this deeply and profoundly affects the child’s development. I had a friend in the past who did not get too much out of conventional talk therapy, but found hypnotherapy quite useful and relaxing. Good luck!

My appointment was mainly an intake. Asking questions and explaining a lot. He did try do a small hypnosis clip but I, as usual, could not quite the others in my head to relax enough. Lot of blocking just like in therapy. $200 this cost me. He said to he feels I could benefit from this and to come back and try it again. I did make another appointment because I want to believe so much that this will be the magic pill.
I will give my thoughts a few days before I decide. __________________ When a child’s emotional needs are not met and a child is repeatedly hurt and abused, this deeply and profoundly affects the child’s development. Ouch! I'm sorry the first session wasn't more useful (especially for $200). Does the hypnotist have experience working with parts?
Thanks for posting the update though! You reminded me, my last T (not a hypnotist) tried to do some sort of hypnosis/relaxation thing with me once! I was pretty excited, because I've done some self-hypnosis, and some guided meditations on tape, and usually can relax and go with it pretty easily. But, the T was... well... I don't think she did these very often. She was basically reading from a book, and using a "reading voice" instead of sounding natural. And she had to put on glasses to read, which made her look totally different than what I was used to, and threw me off. And, I can't remember what she said, but it provoked quite a bit of silly comments in my head, which was not relaxing in the least. Hope that if you go again, it works out better for you! |
