H has the kids this weekend after discussing it with our CPS caseworker, but I already messed up the agreement by wanting to go shopping with my oldest. I stayed at home last night by myself. Called another T yesterday and meeting with him Monday afternoon. I'm trying my best right now to stay safe. My cousin is flying in on the 1st until the 4th to spend time with...haven't seen her in about 4 years.

Hugs, SheHulk. So did they end up making him leave the house? I hope you like the T you meet with Monday.

I have underestimated how the floods last year affected me. Our monsoons have come and for the past week i been checking weather apps arain radars. The floods stopped 3 blocks from my place so i wasnt in danger.

No kidding. Really, it's one of those no-frills business class hotels. I like them. Clean, easy to access, not a lot of frills but I'm just sleeping there...a clean comfy bed and a shower is really all I need.

And there ARE make-your-own waffles, tiny ones!

I love peanut butter and syrup on waffles and pancakes. That was a breakfast treat when I was growing up.

Are waffle makers standard in US motels? We get a kettle and if you are lucky a toaster. This is depended on where in the counrty you are.

They’re pretty common, but they’re in the main breakfast area to be shared by all guests, not like in each individual room.

I have never been to the main breakfast area here. I get room service.

Two sentences in a row from the book I just started:

Do you think maybe it is a technique they are trying?

I tried to make it work as rhetoric (some were crying—no, many were crying) but the context did not fit. Plus several parts of the narrative earlier contradicted each other (the same person receives the same news from the same source via telegram and telephone).

No, I think it’s just sloppy creative non-fiction. Ironically it is about an early female lawyer who does not sound like she tolerated inconsistency.

ETA: I started another book, a novel, and it gets a Greek translation wrong in the first five pages. But at least I didn’t expect this one to be more than a mediocre archaeological thriller, so onward.

mediocre archaeological thrillers have their place. I read mediocre historical fiction mysteries all the time.

I was trying to watch Vienna Blood on PBS last week, supposed to be a turn of the last century psychological murder mystery? Only all the dialogue was in the current vernacular! I was like, really dude??! I turned it off. I never do that.

Yesterday wasn't actually as jam-packed as it could have been--the rando from the dating app rescheduled (he said he was sick) so it was just coffee, lunch, and date with the scrabble-winner.

The date was pretty good--we watched The Gentlemen, which was hysterical (his choice), had drinks, and went to a 21+ arcade. The only thing I wasn't into was that he was hinting that he wanted us to end up in bed together at the end of the night and I was not interested in that. He wasn't like overt or gross about it, it's just a feeling I got. And I'm sick of guys who just want to get into my pants before getting to know me--in my experience, that doesn't predict that a guy is good relationship material.

My H likes peanut butter and honey on his waffles. I prefer honey and almond butter.

Glad you had a good date--did he mention getting together again? If he was just giving you a feeling he wanted to end up in bed with you, it could just be he felt attracted. Would be different if he was pressuring you (sounds like he wasn't). Incidentally, I slept with H on our second date, and we've been married 11 years Though I did already know him from work.

He did mention getting together again--said so before we parted, and sent me a nice text when he got home.

I don't think there's anything *wrong* with sleeping with someone on the first or second date--it's just a weird thing about online dating, I think, where some people want actual relationships and some people just want a hookup. And I am just so sick of getting interested in a guy just to find out that all he wants is my butt.

Aw, the text is nice! To clarify, I didn't think you said something was wrong with sleeping with someone on first or second date. I was more saying that it doesn't necessarily mean they wouldn't want a relationship. But I imagine it's difficult to know with the online dating. The fact that you haven't slept together yet and that he wants another date to me suggests he wasn't just looking for a hookup.

Turned out to be a dead battery in my car. The AAA guy came out, tested it, was like, "Yep, this is your battery," and was able to replace the battery for a decent price. Somehow, the original battery had survived all this time (2011 car, about 80,000 miles), so, hooray for VW batteries! I'm just glad it wasn't a bigger problem. And also that it happened in front of my house.

I've actually said beforehand to guys that I'm not interested in sex on a first date (if that hasn't already been made clear). A genuine guy should understand. If he cancels the date, he wasn't worth it!
