A good friend of mine just sent me a text regarding a video on YouTube by Dr. Todd Grande. The title of the video is, "Can a counselor have narcissistic personality disorder?" I don't think I am allowed to link it. So, if you are interested, you can look this up on YouTube. I didn't get to watch it yet. But, I thought I would let everyone know.

The answer seems pretty obvious.

i suspect more so for those Ts who are 'covert narcissists' and are not as easy to recognise.

Fuzzybear, I think the picture of your bear doing Hula with the Hula skirt on is very cute. I've been meaning to tell you that.

With all of the abuse that is happening, it wouldn't surprise me that some of them might be narcissistic.

Sure. I believe therapists could have personality disorders. I know some therapists in real life who are a total absolute mess. I even dated a guy who was bad news and I think possibly had personality disorder, particularly NPD. In addition when I dumped him he wouldn’t leave me alone. Guess what he did for a living? Yup he was a therapist. One of the thing that really bothered me was him talking about his clients, so inappropriate. So I’d say therapists aren’t immune to NPD or other personality disorders and some might certainly have it just like people in other professions.

Most therapists have losts of letters after their name like: MSW, LC so look closely and I'll bet you'll see NPD.

Hi Shotokan, Thank you for posting this thread. I have yet to watch the video that you have mentioned, but I know for sure that I have personally had a therapist who is narcissistic. I can tell you that with absolute 100% confidence. Thanks, HD7970ghz

Hi HD, I am sorry that you had to go through that. That must have been a horrendous experience.

The video is rather interesting. It is just disgusting how some are able to slip through the cracks.

Hi Shotokan,

Thank you for validating my experiences. It was horrible. Crazy thing is it has become cultural and systemic...

And nothing is being done about it.

Thanks,
HD7970ghz

Yes, I agree with what you are saying. In fact, I really got angry when I informed several psychiatrists whom refused to believe the abuse that I suffered from other providers. But, it was really validating when my doctor stated that he knew it was happening. Unfortunately, there are those that know it is happening and yet are afraid to speak up about it.

I am sure some are just like in every career. I had a well respected psychiatrist tell me that most doctors have NPD to some degree because they think they can heal people.
