I feel like this sounds awful, but I keep thinking of how differently I'd have experienced this if it had been during the time when I was living by myself and single and childless. I wouldn't have had to put so much energy into being there for someone else. Right now, I feel I'm exerting so much energy into being there for my D, plus doing work, that I don't have much time left for anything else. If it had been just me, then I could have engaged in all sorts of things. Tonight I thought I might do an online Paint Nite or Trivia Night, but stuff going on with my D kept me from doing either of those things.

I do have the guinea pigs as something else to focus on. I suppose I feel that I have less time for things now that this is going on, as opposed to more. And much less time to myself. Which is all a struggle, being an introvert.

Maybe look it as time to figure out why you are living your life this way. You are not the only one who is not ecstatic with your home life.

My dad would have been fine, my mother would have absolutely NOT!!!!!!

One time i was settin eating my favorite dinner - spag parm - at Elias Bros after work, around 8 pm, and a guy i knew from Mensa happened by and asked what i was doing. I go, im having dinner. He goes, NO, what are you DOOOOOOINGGGG? He wasnt looking for me to answer him. I was like oh okay. I always knew i was just surviving until i could get free.

I'm not sure I see the problem with earning a living doing what you want, have aptitude for and allows you to work inside and without heavy lifting if that's something you're not interested in. Not all therapists are intellectually challenged and some have years of education. I'm not at all interested in manual labor and I rather like air conditioning. I use the stuff between my ears to earn a living and people pay me to do it. I'm sure the same thing could be said about many professions, even lawyers and professors. I would think that most people have a dream about earning a living doing what they like and how they like to do it. Actually pulling it off doesn't make you a bad person.

Nice work if you can get it. But every other profession you named actually does something besides sit there and blame the client and get their egos stroked. Therapists are very trump-like. Therapists are the worst because they don't DO anything but sit there and get handed money. Every other profession is accountable in tangible ways - therapists are not - they even proudly proclaim they have no culpability for client outcomes. Except they take credit when the outcome is good. They are morally bereft.

Just because from your perspective they don't DO anything, doesn't actually mean they don't. I basically sit there all day and talk a computer into doing what I want it to. From some outside perspective, I don't do anything either.

You sound like a good gardener. I tried to make a hedge once and it failed in a spectacular row of dead shrubs. That are mostly still there many years later - they don't decay very quickly.

Yeah, I mean, I just correct grammar, spelling, and style from the comfort of my home (even before Covid, though I have worked in offices in the past). I'm not exactly doing much from some perspectives...

From my perspective, lawyers are morally bereft. I've been charged multiple times in increments of 0.2 hours at $300/hour for answering emails that couldn't possibly have taken more than a minute to answer. I was also charged for recalculating my income when the lawyer didn't have his facts straight. My income per pay check was clearly stated on the forms I filled out for them. So they screwed up and charged me to fix their error. Talk about morally bereft.

Are all lawyers morally bereft? No, they're not. Are all therapists? No, most certainly not.

Yeah, I'm 1000% certain we're not. But I also feel like defending my therapist right now. And because you've made a blanket statement about ALL therapists, I feel the need to challenge your blanket statement. I'm also drinking vodka and bored and lonely, so there's that.

Guys, come on. No side to this is ever going to agree with the other, so what’s the point of arguing, now of all times?

None of our jobs are worth much right now. People who work in hospitals and the people keeping essential businesses running are the only people really doing anything worth **** right now. IMO.

I am not all worked up about what clients want to believe. It is therapists I hold in contempt - not clients.

We need lawyers to sue those people when the mds commit malpractice, the hospitals reject the sick, and when the govt screw over everyone - ( except therapists who deserve whatever they get). I don't quite agree about who is doing anything worth anything right now -but I also don't really care a lot one way or the other about that.
I do have fun disagreeing about therapists.

Lawyers are kind of used to people thinking we are terrible.

I think plants take skill. Thank goodness I am better with pets than I am plants.
