Do anyone have any ideas re this.
I struggle with looking into her eyes. I have been seeing her for 2 years face to face and I'll occassionally look at her but its brief. Very brief. I'll look at her coat sitting on the back of the door. She wears lovely coats btw. Anyone deal with this? |

Yes. I've been seeing my therapist for 3 years and still can't look him in the eye, even over Zoom for the most part. It makes me feel very defective. He says it's okay and that I'm not a freak, but I'd really like to be able to look at him and connect on a different level.

Yes, I think looking into someone's eyes is a very deep, vulnerable sort of thing. I've always had difficulty with that with T's.

I have been with my T for over 3 years now and don't look him in the face for more than 2 minutes throughout each session, sometimes less. I think it is partly because I dissociate and partly due to shame. I am always ashamed of whatever we are talking about. He has never said anything about it and I think he knows I try. I also have a part that always looks him in the eye. She is not ashamed or scared of anything.
