I keep holding my tears in during today's session.

In the last two years I have been seeing my T I haven't cried once.

My T always have a tissue box in her office though.

I just don't really like crying in front of people.

Of course. Your tears aren't doing much good if held in. Release them, and your body will release feel-good endorphins.

I wish I could cry in session (or ever, really)—I’m sick of being so buttoned up that all of my feelings come back to bite me in the behind.

I feel like I cry a lot in sessions now, if I am upset. but I never did it the beginning as I also do not like crying in front of people.

It's so common to not like crying in front of people, everyone I know says the same thing.

Sometimes we just don't want people to see us for who we are, vulnerable and sad and human.

Sometimes my emotions are what they are. If I cry anywhere it's ok. It's me. I have cried in therapy many times, and been so down even my t started crying. He's an emotional guy too, but he also loves to laugh and learn. Prior ts weren't quite that way and it put me off, to be that vulnerable in front of someone that was so dry and empty of emotions. Some of my favorite movies are super sad and I ask new friends how they feel about them

Yes. Before the switch to teletherapy, two instances stick in my head. Now I seem to dissolve rather more easily.

It's frustrating.

I cry all the time in session, more often than not. It's a place where it feels safe to release my emotions (including over teletherapy).

Never. I have an alter that comes out and takes over if I am about to cry. Crying to "me" is a sign of weakness and embarrassment. It is also useless and forbidden from childhood. I have cried on private but never in front of others.

I didn't for a long time. I think I went through two different therapists (about 3 years each) and a three decade span before finally getting to the point where, with my final therapist a few years in, the tears finally came.

And then it was a pretty common occurrence which I didn't necessarily like (I always say too much tears and snot - LOL) but I wasn't actually embarrassed about either. I'm pretty comfortable with crying now. It's been a relief to get to that point. Took a long time though.

I think it would be easier to count the sessions I didn't cry in. I cried from the very first session.

I am very emotional... even though growing up it was a punishable offense, somehow I never learned how not to be that way. I cry all the time, for multiple reasons (happy, sad, angry, hurt, frustrated, etc) so therapy was absolutely no exception.

Lately, I have felt like crying. Like I feel the tears behind my eyes. But I just can't. I haven't cried in YEARS. I just don't know how to. I logically know it would help me feel better but I'm just stuck and can't make it happen.

No - I never cried around a therapist. There was never a reason to cry.

There has been a stray tear on one or two occasions, but no out and out crying. I actually tend to feel worse when I cry, so this isn't a problem for me. I don't know why I feel worse, but it happens whether I am by myself or with someone else, so I don't think it has to do with shame.

No, but I'm not a very emotional person. I constantly tell my T I am empty inside.

I've only cried 3 times in 4 years of counselling with 3 counsellors but now I've been doing tele therapy I've cried in every single session. I dont really like it. I think my t knows as she said about it being being very painful but I never told her and I can pretend that she doesn't know. It's our last session on fri. Hoping I dont cry but I really dont know why I'm crying so much. I've talked about this stuff before with other ts and never cried just stared at the floor and fidgited
