So in context I am a trampoline gymnast, and I have an agreement with my coaching team that for me to be allowed to train I have to stay above 50kg.
I told my T that today and immediately she assumed that I was below that. And it just triggered me a lot because I weigh around that number at the moment and her comment made me felt like I should be weighing less like how she thought. It's now stuck in my head that clearly I weigh too much, and her comment really triggered me. She's usually good with what she says as she knows my ED can be very sensitive but not today. I have my next session with her on Thursday, should I tell her that she triggered me? |

Yes you should tell her if you want to. It's good to recognise your triggers so you can work through them.

When I was first seeing my current therapist I told her that I was extremely upset about having gained a lot of weight on Seroquel. She looked sympathetic and commented, "Ohh, but you have such a pretty face." It hurt me. And I felt really confused.
I never said anything to her. I wish I would have. I urge you to please speak with your T about her comments today. I really believe you'll be glad when you do. __________________ |

No, you shouldn't be weighing less. You need to weigh enough to be able to continue to train for your sport.

I would think that if 50kg is the minimum required, then it’s not the optimal weight is it...why aim for the lowest you can do, when you could be the healthiest you can instead? This is harder to do and more rewarding. Interesting that sports teams allow people with eating disorders to carry on really, I’ve seen it really make some people worse or die. Good luck, your body needs you.
