Have you ever needed more than once a week Therapy, asked your therapist directly for it and got it?

Thank You Rive, just really struggling with trauma/reappearance of somebody in my life and could do with extra support.

Are you still in Therapy Rive?

Yes just last year I was once a week for an hour so when I was struggling I was manic at the time I asked for an extended session so I was there 2 hours. Since COVID-19 I have had 2 x 1 hour sessions a week. Seems to be working I'm in the UK too

Thank You! That's really helpful and it's lovely to meet you! Were you the one who asked your therapist for two sessions during this Covid 19 stuff too?,

Asked for it last year with my ex T and was told no as it’s not really accepted to be anymore productive than once a week and has the potential to cause more problems than it solves. In the UK also.

She offered at the start of COVID-19 so why not accept the help. Obviously I'm paying her so it's up to me to keep them going. Nice to meet you too

since I started therapy with my current T, we both agreed that twice weekly would be better. if you feel like you need to your T two times a week, definitely discuss it, I'm sure he or she will help you make a decision.

Only in private therapy as I can have as many appointments as I need and have seen her twice a week sometimes, but not often (can't afford it). My former Ts were employed by agencies or other institutions and once a week was the standard offering - I don't believe anyone got more than that. But therapists working privately usually have a lot more flexibility.

Yes.

I've done a mix of 1-3 sessions a week,

Back at two a week at the moment.

T is also on the psychoanalytical register too.

Not in the UK, but yes to all three of your questions. We've been doing multiple sessions for a while now.

I asked her if we could do a few twice per week sessions. She agreed. I've now been doing 2 times per week for many months. For myself, I find it much more helpful than once/week.

Yep, still in therapy.

I have a T who doesn't believe in seeing clients more than once a week. Tough luck for me as I could do with more support. And T knows that.

Once or twice. But it’s not really worth it for me.

Only once. I saw him early in the week and he insisted I come back that Friday.
