Exactly, they are saying that the numbers are rising due to becoming too complacent. In my state, people are not following social distancing rules. So, the numbers are rising from everything from parties to gyms etc. It is ridiculous!

Just because you’ve already contracted Covid-19 doesn’t mean you’re immune.

I wear one in all shops I go in. My therapists office is not a public space, it’s a private room.

I hope OP can find a nice breathable mask to wear and attend therapy soon. Sorry if I have distracted from your point, I didn’t mean to.
Hopealways is seeing a psychiatrist in a medical facility/clinic. He provides therapy but he is a medical doctor. One has to wear a mask in a medical facility in UK. This wasn’t about opinions. It’s a requirement. Your therapist might be in a private room but it doesn’t apply to OP’s situation.

Hopealways if telehealth isn't something you can do see if you could try to wear a mask and see if you can manage or what if you can wear like a light scarf or bandana around your nose and mouth? Would that be helpful instead of a mask? Just please don’t cancel your appts. Even if it’s a half a session it’s better than nothing

Show me the research that backs up that claim. I’ll wait.

I made it there today. The mask wasn’t too bad but I miss the way things used to be.

They never cancel my appointments when I ask.

The one above from Penn State and other studies indicate that most scientists aren’t sure if you could contract it twice. If there is a possibility and it’s inconclusive, it is wise to protect yourself and others just in case. So just because you had, doesn’t mean you can’t get it and pass to others UNTIL they can say for sure it’s not possible. Better be safe than sorry.

In my state, the police are called when people don't comply. If someone refuses to wear a mask on a bus, the bus driver can have the person leave the bus or call the police. Some people just don't realize that they are vectors. And once one gets infected, it is a domino effect from that point on. As the scientists are saying, "we could do all the contact tracing and testing in the world, but if people are not complying, there will be no end to people getting infected."

As they keep stating, "We are all in this together." This means that everyone must do their part or things are going to get much worse than what they are.

Because the cases are skyrocketing in many areas, we can't have tourists flying in for awhile. Otherwise, the hospitals in my state will end up like the hospitals in NYC.

Hope, I’m glad your appointment went well.

In an interesting aside, I was just invited to a NASW training on the ethics of practicing therapy during a pandemic. It’s not until next month, but if anyone is interested I’ll be glad to share what I learn.

Does a one-on-one interview with a man named Dr Anthony Fauci count? You may have heard of him.

Also glad it went well, Hope! You're certainly not alone in wishing things were like they were before the pandemic...

Fauci has definitive research that shows that immunity doesn’t exist? News to me, because as far as I knew there is no definitive research about immunity.

Look, I agree that people ought to wear masks in public. I wear a mask in public if I go out. All I said was that my T has given me the option to not wear a mask while I’m in session with him. Since I know I don’t have COVID, I take off the mask. I know I don’t have COVID because the only places I go are an office by myself once a week and T once a week.

None of this is really the point. Hope posted about her personal situation, not in order to have a global debate about masks.

Hope, I know this thread has gone a bit astray. What did you decide to do for tomorrow. I wish you the best with whatever you decide. Try to keep an open mind. Part of being in therapy is to learn how to deal with change and the stress of everyday life. It is all a learning experience.

Hi,
I have/had trouble with masks too.
So at home i started wearing my winter scarf around my neck.
then would sometimes wrap it around my mouth... and then kept moving it and moving it up and up.
i went out with a scarf instead of a mask for a while.
now i kinda prefer the mask because its like being anonymous to people on stores and other places.
I dont like the mask but maybe this can help you?

I asked him that question. He said people have tested positive (for the second time) after contracting it and recovering.

But hey, do as you please.

If you all want to discuss Covid topics, why don't you take it over to the General Chat forum. All the passive-aggressiveness around this topic is making this place seem unsafe to discuss issues that are affecting our therapy and it's not all that supportive.

In a midst of all the arguments, people missed posts from hopealways that she already had her appointment, wore a mask but misses old times (understandably so!)

Good job, hopealways. Way to go!! Hugs
