I tend to dress rather conservatively in general... Pants or an ankle length dress/skirt, shirts tucked and at least my shoulders covered if not more. Last winter H had a fit about how frumpy I looked going to T in sweat shirts and comfortable jeans. H and I talked about it but he doesn’t really get it. Ideally to see T I would wear all the “necessities” and then on top a camisole, a T shirt, sweat shirt or heavy lined shirt and an old school varsity jacket. Jeans on the bottom are typically sufficient... this would allow me more comfort in being vulnerable but I could take layers off to meet the “temperature” of the session. H calmed down when I bought a bunch of “cute” pink sweatshirts but he still doesn’t get what I guess amounts to hiding in my clothes. The last few weeks here have been unbearably hot and so I have had to dress much more lightly for T. T noticed and mentioned how nice I have looked and I explained it to T and how uncomfortable it made me to dress that way with him. T also mostly gets it as he knows being seen or heard can feel very threatening to me.
Tomorrow I meet with T2 for the first time and I am already stressing about what to wear and it is going to be hot. Ideally I would like to wear jeans, the above mentioned layers, a bullet proof vest and my favorite black and white, lined “lumberjack” shirt. I am super thankful to have to wear a mask and the style I use covers much of my face. Dark tinted sunglasses would be a bit of an overkill but not totally out of question. T2 is a woman so both H and T1 are assuming I will not feel so threatened being seen... they’re wrong!!!! It had NOTHING to do with T1 being a man. H is going to be even more upset that I dress “frumpy” for a woman than I do man T ( oooh... man T... that’s funny... that might stick!). Perhaps I should just bring my heavy military wool blanket and toss it over my head when I get in there?! I don’t have anyone I can talk to about it unless I want to talk to T2 about it in session (doubt it!!!) or talk to Man T about it next week... oh that’s funny... just need to not call him that in front of H. Anyone have a climate controlled space suit I can use tomorrow? Pink would be preferred by H but I’m not fussy about color. __________________ There’s been many a crooked path that has landed me here Tired, broken and wearing rags Wild eyed with fear -Blackmoores Night |

I think hard about what to wear for therapy. I'm not fashion conscious in my life whatsoever but I want to look reasonably good for her because I have a slight erotic transference going on. I've only really been aware of this over the last few weeks because it's mainly something I do on an unconscious level (choosing clothes to wear, I mean) but now I know it's definitely an issue for me. At the moment it's boiling hot so I'm wearing shorts and a thin top or a sundress, or else jeans, leggings and a nice casual top, but it's always stuff that I hope she will like. It's pretty crazy really as we're both heterosexual females but it's part of the process for me that hopefully we will be working through at some point.

I just wore what I always wear - khakis or jeans and an oxford cloth shirt. A couple of times I wore sweat pants if I was going to/coming from yoga.

honestly, depends on my mood.
if I'm feeling depressed, I won't bother at all with dressing up- just go as I am and I have had rellavant comments when it has been noticed I've not really tried on better days I'll at least change clothes (perhaps not in to something smarter,) but something clean. I might even shower if I'm feeling particularly good |

I wear whatever I want. I wear sleeveless shirts and stuff and she doesn’t care. One time I wore a tank top and I got uncomfortable and I had to grab a t shirt to put over the tank top. She said wearing the tank top was a big step for me and that she just wants me to be comfortable in therapy because it’s a safe environment. Basically the only time she really comments on what I’m wearing is when I have a graphic T shirt on. She did make one comment about me dressing young one time though.

I try to at least smell nice (if not a swhower, then perfume). one therapist asked me once when the last time I showered was.
so I'll be sure not to let that happen again.. |

I don't dress specifically for therapy, just whatever else I'm doing that day. In summer it's usually jeans and a t-shirt or tank top, although I usually carry a sweater or cardigan in my bag and put it on when I get inside if the AC is too cold for me.

I know it's not the question you're asking, but why does H care so much about what you wear to therapy?

I go directly from work so I wear what I wear to work so generally pants/skirt either a blouse or a dress. Starting September 1st my employer decided that all emoloyees must weat scrubs of a certain color according to their discipline so for me it will be gray scrubs. I do plan to change before leaving work on days I have to go some place other than home.

Yeah, it doesn't seem like jealousy. It seems like objectification. You either make him look good or make him look bad depending on how you present to the outside world. I hope you realize that your worth does not depend on how you present yourself to the world. You're just as worthwhile if you dress frumpily. And if H doesn't realize that, that's his problem.

Our weather changed today so it looks like I can at least get away with a long sleeve shirt maybe with a hood for the rain... even if I could never put the hood up in session. __________________ There’s been many a crooked path that has landed me here Tired, broken and wearing rags Wild eyed with fear -Blackmoores Night |

I generally wear the same things. joggers and sweatshirt, and it is what I wear everyday anyways.

I always wear the same pants (sweatpants in Winter and very loose and comfy shorts in Summer), I have a specific set of underwear meant only for therapy (also geared towards being comfy) and a loose, comfortable shirt.

Thanks! That made me feel better... I have two pairs of winter T socks and two pairs of summer T socks. H thinks I have gone batty! I usually take my shoes off though. My every day socks take a beating because I hate shoes so kick them off at random times leaving me barefoot or in my socks. T is a little on the OCD clean side so I couldn’t imagine having to explain stains on my socks! I live on a farm so some stains could be pretty creative My socks just for T only get worn to T and back and then get put up right away... they get washed the night before session with whatever I am wearing for that session.

I used to look forward to putting cute outfits together to wear to therapy. Now, with teletherapy, doesn't matter what I wear, since all she can see is my upper chest. I still wear something that is a nice color, at least
