Hi..
I am day 6 in a PHP...it is all done virtually. What is the role of the case manager? Mine does not seem to help me at all...Then do I do IOP? What is the difference? Will anyone share their experience, please? Thank you.. |

I've never been PHP or IOP but when I was IP the case manager who was a social worker didn't do jack squat. She talked to me once and then was there at my discharge. HUGS! I hope someone can help you with their experiences in PHP. HUGS Kit

I am biased and hate PHP and IOP. It is mainly group therapy. There is no one on one therapy. Case managers are rarely seen. IOP is the same as PHP but you are there less time. You see a dr more often then in the outside world and they may make med changes but in my experience they are just babysitters there to fill time in our day.
Again this is my biased view from the PHPs and IOPs I have been to. |

Remember the internet mime of a running stick figure with the hair on fire? That’s what a case manager does. Now days there’s too many people in too short a time for them to actually help anybody.
Php, is usually daily and has several groups. I don’t know how they do it vital tho. And iOP is usually 2-3 days a week for less hours. __________________ Nammu …Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. With the IOP/PHP I work honestly the only difference is the PHP is an hour longer than IOP because we have a longer IOP program than most others. The only people who do PHP is those with Medicare because they require it. So everybody comes in at the same time the people in IOP leave after 4 hours and we do an extra hour with the PHP clients.
In our program, our case managers are required to to be either a LCPC or LCSW. There role is to run the first group of the day (process group) as well as other educational groups.. Our nurse and recreational therapist also runs groups. The case manager also works with the client on weekly treatment plans, insures follow up care is in place and does some one on one counseling time (not daily) __________________ |

Thanks everyone.
We had a “group” , really a presentation on classes of antidepressants. The woman placed Wellbutrin in the SSRI category.....I knew it was not, and I am also a RN, So I asked what is Viibrid....she stated “ not an antidepressant “.... I stated I thought it was. So she googled it and then said it is hardly ever used. I cannot trust anything this woman says.... It bothers me that she is providing false information. Some days the patients never “talk”...it is very odd. |

Hey @Littlepalm if your PHP is associated with a hospital and you are not happy with the case worker you can request a patient advocate.
