I am not sure what is going on here about testing. I have not been following. The university has some sort of procedure for faculty. I figure if I feel sick, I will go through my old emails and find it

Our area is pretty easy as well. No referral needed from your PCP.

So we still have the Christmas tree angel out (don't ask--not on the tree!), and D keeps wanting to play with it. But it has a ceramic head, so I'm saying she should stay where she is. I told her maybe we could get her an angel doll she could play with. Then I went over to Etsy to look up "angel doll." There was some creepy stuff there. I fear my dreams will be haunted tonight by the set of three angel doll heads on sticks (to make your own).

Speaking of interrupted sleep...my school’s dorms and nearby apartments that rent to students are experiencing a rash of someone banging on doors at 2 am, laughing like a mad clown, then running away. They’re calling it the covid clown.

Aaaand I’m awake. I was also up from 2-4am, woke up for no particular reason. I’ve been having a heck of a time sleeping lately, not sure what’s up with that.

I emailed T last night saying I thought the session that morning had been a bit much for me. I think I pushed myself too hard... in my excitement about learning more about ego psychology, I forgot that defenses can serve a useful purpose.

Anyway. Now to see if I can get myself to go for a run this morning...

ETA: did manage to go for a run, though my shin splints were bugging me so I only did a mile and a half instead of the 5k I was aiming for. Welp, infinitely better than sitting on my behind in bed.

Ah, heck. I think I'm having a panic attack. I can't catch my breath and my chest hurts and my heart rate is up and I feel dizzy.

The weird thing is that it doesn't seem to be "about" anything? Like, I can't figure out why it's happening, why my sympathetic nervous system just decided to freak out.

I emailed my T but he's unlikely to get back to me since it isn't a true emergency.

I'm so sick of being sick.

Hugs, I hope you feel better soon. And that you hear back from your T. If it goes on for too long, you might consider ER or getting a Covid test, just in case it isn't a panic attack. Yes, I know, I'm saying that to a doctor, but just throwing it out there anyway!

I finally got a second job since first job isn't that many hours. Of course, as soon as things start falling into place husband comes home and informs me that two of his co-workers tested positive for COVID and now everyone who works there has to get tested.

Thanks LT

The fact that it came on all of a sudden (all four symptoms went from zero to sixty within like 30 seconds) and I don't have fever/loss of smell/GI symptoms/etc is reassuring for it being something other than COVID. If I had a different risk profile I might actually think about a pulmonary embolism but since I'm young and without risk factors for clot that'd be pretty unusual.

I'll keep an eye on it--if it's still happening by like noon I'll have a hard think about going to the ED. (If nothing else they can probably give me something to calm me the eff down!)

ETA: Still happening, but I just remembered that I bought a home pulse oximeter for my roommate and me at the beginning of the pandemic (just in case one or the other of us got sick and I had to take care of us at home); my pulse ox is 99%. That's classic panic attack--shortness of breath and a bunch of panicky symptoms with normal to high pulse ox.

Sigh. Stupid brain. Stupid feelings.

Have you ever tried getting the paper prescription and buying the meds somewhere else? Costco and Walmart both dispense many different pet meds and would likely be less expensive, and you could also check online pharmacies like 1800petmeds. Lots of vets mark up prescription costs. My current vet is really great, though - every medication I've gotten so far (antibiotics, apoquel, steroids) has been only $10 - $20. The vet my previous dogs went to was definitely more expensive. My vet also has heartworm prevention and flea meds for less than anywhere else.

I guess I'm suggesting you look into filling the meds at other pharmacies or even look for a vet with more competitive pricing. They're out there.

Shopping around is a great idea. I get my dog's seizure meds at a regular pharmacy (Sam's Club prescription program), and it saves me like a hundred bucks a month. It is always kinda weird when they ask for his date of birth and last name and I have to specify that he's a dog.

Lol, that's funny! I remember when I was a kid, my rabbit was listed as Bonnie [our last name] in the records. I forget how the previous guinea pigs were listed.

I need to get a vet for the current girls, but because of Covid, many places weren't taking new clients (at least for well visits). I need to check into that again. Plus I need a place that has a vet specializing in "exotics," which in vet terms is animals that aren't dogs or cats (or like farm animals). We went to one with the previous pigs, but he was allergic to guinea pigs and had to put on like full PPE to treat them, so it was sort of weird? Plus they charged us a *lot* for the one sick pig's care (the other was generally healthy). Like "Oh, we put him in on oxygen for an hour (like this box that has oxygen pumped in), that's $200, we did this scan, that's $300."

C

Maybe splashing cold water on your face, holding yourself with your arms crossed or a gentle carotid massage would help.

Might sound woo but I found this EFT video helpful the last time .

when diabetic kitty was still eating the prescription food, we bought it through chewy.com and it was cheaper than at the vet. i just scanned & uploaded the prescription to their website.

(He won't eat it anymore though, so we are just feeding him the same soft food the other 2 eat, Friskies pate now so he would eat and stop losing weight.)

I caved and went to the ED—the shortness of breath and dizziness were just not going away, and I thought, “ya know, if a patient called and told me they were feeling this way for so long, I’d tell them to go to the ED, so what the heck am I doing sitting in my apartment?”

Though I dunno, maybe I should have stayed home. All my labs look OK (the ED doc showed them to me), my EKG was totally normal, my chest x ray looks fine, and my COVID results will come back tomorrow. Now I feel a little stupid—could have waited it out a little longer and saved $100 (that’s how much my copay is for an ED visit).
