My Dad called for me a pet grooming place to see about getting Amelia in, to see if it was necessary to help her with this transmission fluid that hasn't totally gotten off of her despite our repeated attempts at baths. But the pet grooming place basically said that they would do just what we have been doing so it isn't really necessary to bring her in. (At least they weren't money grubbing and like yeah bring her and it costing me $150 for a Dawn bath that I did at home already.) I think her hair is just going to have to grow out some, get fuller again. She sure did make a right mess out of it!

I got a propane griddle for camping but am debating whether to keep it or not. I am not a big fan of propane but this would be (and it is a hot camping item on people's lists) very handy for cooking. But propane can blow up. Probably my desire not to blow up will beat out my desire to have an easier way to make breakfast.

"well he said something yesterday that made me feel the same way all over again and worse and I'm never eating again. He made me feel fat, and ugly, and undeserving."

I think there are several things going on. His statement was cruel and demeaning and one need not put up with being treated in such a fashion. But the reaction of "he hurt my feelings so I won't eat ever again" is also turning power over to him. Not eating won't teach him a lesson. Go to Hawaii or wherever you want to go by yourself, with your friends, take your son etc. and eat a whole damn roast pig or whatever you want.

Okay, I let down the guy I was unsure about. Seeing scientist guy on Friday. And I'm supposed to meet another scientist guy tomorrow. Friday guy is a geneticist, Wednesday guy is a virologist. Battle of the disciplines?

I had a dog who would mope if the cat was gone but the odd part is that the cat would mope if the dog was gone. The dog had surgery and had to be kept away from the other animals and the cat would lie by the door and cry until I finally (and against all vet advice) just let the cat into the room where they spent the next week cuddled together

That's some fine SD wisdom right there.

But...isn't that turning power over to SD?

So they kept her for a few hours.

Lone dog moped around all morning when I was teaching, so I took him with me when it was time to go pick her up. He rested his head on the seat by her carrier on the ride home and listened to her long list of grievances, occasionally giving a soft moan in response.

In short, lone dog is new cat's therapist. So of course as soon as we were home and she was free she gave him a smack. Typical ungrateful client.
Awe, this was so sweet. It's amazing how the pets care for one another.

Since Amelia still smells like transmission fluid I think Esther can't recognize her so there has been lots of hissing and growling and swiping at my house but Emma (Mom's dog) keeps right on playing with Amelia and acting like nothing is wrong so maybe Emma's smeller isn't that good or she doesn't care that the cat smells like transmission fluid. What is sad is that Amelia usually hangs out in a different room from Esther right now since Esther is being quite a brat to Amelia. But Amelia did let me carry her around while I got her dinner ready the other day. Progress! She is getting much more open to human interaction even if the cat interaction has stalled.

It certainly is. I finished overreacting with my emotions yesterday and ate dinner. I think I needed to react like that though so I could see myself doing it.

I am going to talk to a couple of my friends this weekend who have been there before and start planning myself a trip. Such a fabulous idea. Even if he went, he wouldn't want to spend as much time on the beach/in the water as I would so.... yeah. I'm going alone!!

I worked some overtime today then went shopping and bought myself one of those snowman lamps that my friend has, that I just fell in love with last Christmas. It blows sparkly glitter all up inside the clear glass snowman and is lit up. It makes me stupidly, giggly, crazy-happy and I love it!! Full price was $60, which I honestly would have spent (it would have taken me awhile to talk myself into it but I would have) BUT it was 50% off and I got an additional 20% off with a coupon!! I love Kohl's. eta: i don't know why it's sideways!

It appears I am a terrible minion. I adopted a 5-mth-old kitten yesterday, and she has decided the bathtub is the place to poop.

I had a cat several years ago who would poop in the tub when she was anxious or if the litter wasn't to her liking. Not knowing if you have other cats, is the litterbox clean? If it's anxiety, it'll take some time for that to subside.

Artie, I cosign the trip to Hawaii alone (at any weight). I've gone on several vacations without my husband and they've been delightful.

She pees in it right before she poops, so it's clean besides that. She doesn't appear to be anxious, so I am going to try another litter/maybe a larger box, although hers is large already. I caught her trying to poop in the tub this time, put her in the litter box, and she dug about 1/3 of the litter out of the box before going. It was some intense digging. She didn't do that with peeing, though.

She wants a plain surface to poop on?! Maybe a previous owner was toilet training her? Next she will ask for a bidet!
