Could you look for a different type of job that doesn’t frequently lay people off?

Are you on unemployment?

Did you discuss payment plan with water company?

We discussed payment plans. We are having trouble meeting what they could provide us as for payments. I do get unemployment but $362 per week that is the maximum in our state. I make five times that per week normally so our debt commitments are based on that.

Also I have a good job and a masters degree. Company had a bad year and had to cut back for a few months.

I still fail to see how your wife’s vacation changes anything.

Juggle a few balls in the air to make it work, wouldn’t she do the same for you?

Like others have said, feelings aren’t right or wrong. Feelings are what they are. It makes sense that you feel this way given how stressed out you are.

That said, if is the primary breadwinner and she is still getting paid during her vacation, it sounds like she is doing her part to contribute to the family. If you usually work and have a master’s degree, can’t you find some kind of job to do during the day when the kids are at school? Since the change in finances is due to a change in your employment, doesn’t it make sense that you would shoulder more of the burden for making up enough of that lost income to pay essential bills? It also doesn’t seem to make sense that everyone else on the trip would change their schedules just to accommodate you. Since your wife decided to go, it’s not even her that thinks the timing is a problem; it’s just you. But you aren’t paying for or involved in the trip, so it doesn’t really make sense that you would get to determine their timing.

If you have masters degree maybe you should look for a job that doesn’t lay people off. I’d not work the kind of job and I don’t have 4 kids at home. Perhaps you can get a temporary job right now, retail hires part time all the time. If you can’t manage and water is shut down go get a second job or something. Also if you know your company lays people off periodically why not save money to get through few months? You focus on wrong things. Beingmad your wife is on vacation instead of looking into ways and choices to improve your life overall

While you look for a job, consider scoring from home! The hours are flexible! This is not a career as it is temporary but at this time of year there is a lot of work available....
