Rent a cheap office space and make it a recording studio. Instead of moving to a small apartment. Of course stay living with mom. That will give me space, independence, and my own space.

I'm seriously considering the idea.

Who is going to pay for the office space? What are you planning on recording? Why do you need office space and what kind of independence could some cheap office space provide for yuh? This makes no sense honestly, is he serious?

I also don’t understand how this is really going to help you, are you a musician ? All that equipment is very expensive. Do you want to record your own stuff or for other people ?

Since your so unhappy at your Moms why not get your own place ?

Also agreeing with the others and elaborating. You in your other posts crave your freedom and independence but just don't want to deal with the fallout. You've said you feel overwhelmed and smushed living with mom. I think I would stick to moving into that apartment you have a move in date for..

Even though renting a cheap office space sounds appealing....You will also be hit with hidden costs such as utilities and insurance....not to mention implementing sound attenuation measures, dependant on usage of the space.

To blazes with your brother. It's your life and your decision. Do what you think is best for you. If that means moving out, and he doesn't like it, then tough cookies.

No one in my family likes it. On top of the stress of moving my family will disown me if I do. So far sticking with it. I don't want to go through this fight again. It's been hard and awful. Ran through his idea too costly. And I doubt I'd really use the space.

You are a grown woman, aren't you? Legally allowed to make your own decisions?

I’m experienced in the ‘disown’ game from family. They can shun you and refuse you any of their fake love, they can remove any financial support, even give to someone else the inheritance you were supposed to receive, but there’s nothing they can do to take your self esteem from you unless you give that to them, too.

I am confused. First you said you had gotten approved for an apartment and I thought you said you were getting furniture. Then you said your mom didnt want you to move and you were staying. Are you still on the list for the apartment? If you do not intend on really moving you should let them know so they can move on to someone else. Or tell your mom for sure you are leaving. And your Brother's idea blows my mind. Unless you are a musician and make your living that way why would you need a recording studio. And why not just take the apartment?

My immediate thought is who is paying for your rent and needs in the home and who will pay for those things which pertain to the proposed studio? In what way will you contribute and in what way do you already do so? Is this a case of having your cake and eating it too? I honestly think you need to settle the issue of your living circumstances long before jumping into this music studio thing. You need to be steady on your feet solidly before such an endeavour.
