So I’ve been “under contract” as my wife jokingly puts it; for a week now. Honestly at first it didn’t really feel all that different than before we were married. Everyone acted the same. Our relationship seemed to be normal. Well at least our version of normal. But nothing seemed to change all that much.

I will say today I had a pretty good day. I tended to the lawn, I got all of our phones working, I made progress on my DIY coal forge, etc... everything seemed to be good.

That’s when I realized that I was mainly happy over the thought that I made a good decision marrying my girl. I mean sure are relationship has some issues. Mainly in intimacy and communication. But name one perfect relationship? So as of now I am very happy and comfortable with my decision to marrying her. Things really aren’t all that different then before. We still have separate bank accounts with one joint account. Her money is hers and mine is mine. We have three fur babies whom we love. We’re talking kids in a few years depending on our situation. Etc...

Oh I did loose my wedding ring though. I have several partial missing digits and my ring finger ends at the second knuckle. So my wedding ring worked its way off and hit the floor while we were shopping. So to solve this issue; since my wedding finger is oddly shaped and ends at the first knuckle, I’m probably going to get one tattooed on my finger. Is this a smart idea? I don’t know. Am I going through with it? Yes I am.

So I’m not asking help or anything. I’m just reporting in.

What a lovely post! Thank you for sharing, Stuck1nhead. I am so glad to hear that things are going well for you folks. With regard to your ring, what about wearing it on a chain around your neck? I have a couple of friends who opted for that for their own reasons. Tattoo? I don't know. That sounds a bit drastic to me but if it feels right to you, you are the only one who can determine that.

I continue to wish you peace, hope, and a bright future. You deserve it!

Congratulations! Just remember the importance of communication--talking things out and compromising. (Said by a lady married now for 31 years! )

We’re good about problem solving issues we face. Its just the intimacy is a issue on her end and about opening up on my end.

Why do you have difficulty opening up?

Overall touch in general. It’s hard for her to do anything more than hug. It partly comes from her body confidence and partly from abusive exes.

I’ve always kept to myself, so now that I’m in a partnership with someone. It’s hard for me to think that way. She’s a open book to me but I still like my privacy.
