What follows might be difficult for some. Perhaps you shouldn't read if you are experiencing SI. The crisis at least has ended favourably with the person involved now being safe and sound. I write this though as it was an ordeal for which I am incredibly exhausted and I feel the need to let out the emotions.

So, here goes...

Possible trigger:

I am left upset that of all the people we called yesterday that not one of them was able to come over for even an hour to spell me off. Thankfully my acquaintance ended up safe and sound where he needs to be.

Perhaps this post doesn't belong on the forum. I will understand.

My hopes are that there is at least one individual in your lives who can be that friend when needed. It might do well to seek them out now, before a crisis arrives.

Thank you SO MUCH for sharing your story, WishfulThinker! I am REALLY HAPPY that you were able to stand by his side for at least a bit! That was REALLY brave of you - and of course REALLY, REALLY KIND! One person can make a difference. I, for one, am not sure whom I'd turn up to if I were experiencing a crisis! I wouldn't have the courage. Either way, thank you for what you've done and for sharing it here. I hope it will be inspirational to EVERYONE HERE! Sending many safe, warm hugs to BOTH You And Your Acquaintance! Keep fighting and keep rocking! .throb:

Thanks for the uplifting posts.

I was fortunate to have a therapy appointment yesterday and I cried and cried for the full hour. By the time we were done I was trashed I was so exhausted and couldn't wait to get home where I spent the rest of the morning curled up in bed with my dog at my side.

I am okay and thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

My new friend is where he needs to be. I briefly saw him yesterday. What strength it must have taken him to get through the day and see himself to the hospital. It is he who deserves an award for being so strong.

Relief on my part.

My therapist asked how this might have triggered my own mental health. I hadn't much thought of that. I was purely in 'you do what you got to do' mode.

I repeat my urging of people to make consideration of those in their own lives who might come to their aid and be such a friend if needed. We were lucky this time that I had a hunch that morning and acted upon it. I think we all need some sort of safety plan, eh?

So what did this trigger for me? I sat down with my husband late that night and we discussed a what-if scenario that would involve not just him but who else I would likely be able to count on. I am meeting with those two people today and plan to reach out.

You made a difference. I am glad he got help. That he sought help must have helped make your huge sacrifice of your own mental health more worthwhile.

We get what we give and and you learned how strong you are! You learned how much you need your husband, T, and those other two people.

We all need someone. We all need to help others. Sometimes I have to remind myself of this. Thanks for being a good example. Thanks for sharing this.

We all need a friend like you and we need to be that friend to people too. It’s not always easy. But it’s so important. Thank you for reminding us
