People who use our triggers against us (irl) .. Including a therapist. More than one therapist. I find that truly sickening. I don't know how they sleep at night

(not about anyone on pc)

People who uses our weak points against us is what I call machivellianism. When doing by a mental health professional there’s no a name enough hard to explain what it may mean in any language.

What happened? Do you want to talk about it?

I think basically the ''professional'' irl (actually there was more than one of them were both less than competent at their job (and that is putting it gently and with a ''strong'' sadistic streak... they enjoyed picking out someone elses ''weak'' points. And
Possible trigger:

As if they had none themselves? Indeed. Sick sick sick people, my Grrrrrr is not harsh enough for ''people'' like that

(not about anyone on pc)

I understand, Fuzzy.
Unluckily there are always some rotten apples in any basket. No profession is free of this.
And I agree with you, when it happens in professions that have to do with dealing with people, their hopes, their health is twice more serious.

There were a few different therapists I drove home by myself sobbing hysterically after my appointment from them doing what you describe.

There was one marriage therapist my husband and I saw together who was the worst. He laid in to me, attacked me. I don’t even remember what he said now. I just felt like I was on trial for my life being hammered by the prosecution. I cried hysterically. My husband meekly said at one point, “Let’s back off now”. But he basically let him tear me to pieces. This happened many years ago. Recently I was still mad about it and brought it up with my husband who said he was “challenging me”

It really was a traumatic experience and I hope if something like happens to anyone here, they will get up and walk out. That’s what I wanted to do, but didn’t. I let him attack me, relentlessly, while I bawled. This never happened before, but I continued to bawl all night long until morning! This is therapy? And my husband allowed it!

I had a similar experience with one of our couple's counselor who asked me why I was so "angry". Umm, if you've followed my story, there's a lot to be upset about. Luckily, our next therapist gave me the validation I needed.

I'm not sure how your therapists did this. It sure doesn't sound professional. Big hugs to you.

Yup there are some crappy therapists out there. I can believe how other members had some bad experiences.

Our triggers are supposed to eventually be addressed in therapy, but have a heart and be gentle! I agree it felt like intentional sadism and I don’t understand why and how that is possibly therapeutic! I never went back, so that’s what they achieved by attacking me.

I personally didn’t have bad therapists but I knew few therapists in real life, so to speak. Sadly all of them were a total complete mess. One also liked to gossip about his clients and thought it was ok because he didn’t name them. I don’t know how they were as therapists but I strongly suspect they were no good. They were too messed up to help anyone, they needed to help themselves first

Well, they say what you do for a living is what you struggle with most in your personal life.

Hi everyone, I'm new here. OMG, I'm sorry to hear that this happened to some of you! That's very rude and unprofessional! I hope that you stopped seeing those so called therapists! There is definitely something wrong with them! It sounds like they became therapists to make money and lord power over people they see as "beneath them" and "crazy". They're all on power trips too. I hope that you all reported them to the psychiatric board.

I'd also write a bad review on yelp or other review sites to warn other people to not see them. They should have their licenses revoked! I've been to a few bad ones too. One was really nasty. He assaulted me! I was in to much shock to call the police. I was a lot younger then and I thought that no one would believe me anyways even with other witnesses around.

I never bothered going back to him again after that. It seemed that none of them took me seriously either. Hugs to everyone on here.
